Calcareous nannofossils and Mesozoic oceanic anoxic events
Abstract Twenty-five years ago, Mesozoic oceanic anoxic events (OAEs) were documented and formalised as intervals of widespread to global deposition of organic matter. The Toarcian, Early Aptian (OAE1a) and latest Cenomanian (OAE2) OAEs are truly global in nature, commonly carbonate-poor, and typically represented by organic carbon-rich black shales.

Integrated microfossil biostratigraphy, facies distribution, and depositional sequences of the upper Turonian to Campanian succession in northeast Egypt and Jordan [PDF]
Six upper Turonian to Campanian sections in Egypt (Sinai) and Jordan were studied for their microfossil biostratigraphy (calcareous nannofossils and planktonic foraminifera), facies distribution and sequence stratigraphic frameworks.

ABSTRACT Detailed analysis of Lutetian–Bartonian deposits in the Paris Basin (‘Marnes et Caillasses’ Formation) provides new evidence of concomitant magnesian fibrous clays (palygorskite and sepiolite) and early microcrystalline dolomite. Although relatively uncommon in sedimentary archives, palygorskite and sepiolite are found in a wide range of ...

Implications of Northwest Pacific Ocean Eolian Records for Northern Hemisphere Wind System Evolution
Abstract Northwest Pacific Ocean sedimentary eolian records preserve abundant information about the temporal evolution of Northern Hemisphere atmospheric circulation. The large spatial scale of these wind systems means that they play key roles in driving dust transportation from inland areas to the open ocean. However, the altitudinal range of dominant

Calcareous nannofossil communities during Late Triassic Mass Extinction and Early Jurassic recovery in the NW Tethys: evidence from Slovakia, Western Carpathians [PDF]
The first calcareous nannoplankton extinction and recovery close to the Triassic/Jurassic boundary (TJB) were studied in two Tatra Mountains sections of Kardolína and Furkaska.

Abstract Northern Andean volcanism is characterized by an intense Quaternary activity, whose onshore deposits have partly covered Mio‐Pliocene products associated with the early development of the arc, making it difficult to obtain an exhaustive catalog of past eruptions.

Petrogenesis of diachronous mixed siliciclastic-carbonate megafacies in the cool-water Oligocene Tikorangi Formation, Taranaki Basin, New Zealand [PDF]
The Oligocene (Whaingaroan-Waitakian) Tikorangi Formation is a totally subsurface, lithostratigraphically complex, mixed siliciclastic-limestone-rich sequence forming an important fracture reservoir within Taranaki Basin, New Zealand.
