CNS Mitochondria‐Derived Vesicle in Blood: Potential Biomarkers for Brain Mitochondria Dysfunction

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Mitochondrial dysfunction is a hallmark of neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's (AD) and Parkinson's (PD). Our goal was to develop practical, noninvasive methods to assess mitochondrial status through the detection of mitochondria‐derived vesicles (MDVs).

Association of dietary calcium intake at dinner versus breakfast with cardiovascular disease in U.S. adults: the national health and nutrition examination survey, 2003–2018

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background Currently, it is still largely unknown whether the proportion of calcium intake at breakfast and dinner is associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) in the general population. Objectives The aim of this study was to evaluate the association

Dietary calcium intake was related to the onset of pre‐eclampsia: The TMM BirThree Cohort Study

open access: yesThe Journal of Clinical Hypertension, 2023
This study aimed to explore the relationship between dietary electrolyte intake and the prevalence of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy (HDP) subtypes. Our analysis included 19 914 pregnant women from the Tohoku Medical Megabank Project Birth and Three‐

Variable Selection in Functional Linear Concurrent Regression [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
We propose a novel method for variable selection in functional linear concurrent regression. Our research is motivated by a fisheries footprint study where the goal is to identify important time-varying socio-structural drivers influencing patterns of seafood consumption, and hence fisheries footprint, over time, as well as estimating their dynamic ...

Cost of Dietary Data Acquisition with Smart Group Catering [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The need for dietary data management is growing with public awareness of food intakes. As a result, there are increasing deployments of smart canteens where dietary data is collected through either Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) or Computer Vision(CV)-based solutions.

Association Between Metabolic Syndrome and Radiographic Changes in Psoriatic Arthritis: A Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a known comorbidity of psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and is associated with PsA disease activity. We aimed to explore the association between MetS and radiographic features (peripheral and axial) in PsA. Methods We included patients with PsA followed at our prospective observational cohort for the period between 1978 ...

Calcium intake may explain the reduction of colorectal cancer odds by dietary selenium - a case-control study in Poland

open access: yesBMC Nutrition, 2022
Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) has been placed among top three cancer sites in high income countries. Although there are several inconsistencies across studies it is widely accepted that diet contributes to approximately 70% of CRC.

A Score Based Test for Functional Linear Concurrent Regression [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We propose a novel method for testing the null hypothesis of no effect of a covariate on the response in the context of functional linear concurrent regression. We establish an equivalent random effects formulation of our functional regression model under which our testing problem reduces to testing for zero variance component for random effects.
