High‐Throughput Mechanical Rupture of Nuclear Envelope and the Intracellular Dynamics of Massive Wound Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A microfluidic device with monolithically integrated nanostructures enables high‐throughput wounding of the cell membrane and nuclear envelope. The spatial distribution of charged multivesicular body protein 4B (CHMP4B) within the cell is mapped before and after wounding, showing involvement in repair of both the cell membrane and nuclear envelope ...

The involvement of calcium carriers and of the vacuole in the glucose-induced calcium signaling and activation of the plasma membrane H+-ATPase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells.

open access: yes, 2012
Previous work from our laboratories demonstrated that the sugar-induced activation of plasma membrane H+-ATPase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae is dependent on calcium metabolism with the contribution of calcium influx from external medium.

TPI1 Loss Triggers a Metabolite‐Driven Mitochondrial Redox Vulnerability via the SARM1–cADPR–Ca2+ Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Metabolite‐driven redox stress governs cancer cell senescence. TPI1 deficiency elevates DHAP, initiating SARM1‐dependent cADPR‐Ca2+ release. Mitochondrial ROS surge subsequently induces DNA damage and senescence, offering a conserved therapeutic target in multiple cancers.

Role of SCTR/AT1aR heteromer in mediating ANGII-induced aldosterone secretion.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2019
The involvement of secretin (SCT) and its receptor (SCTR) in angiotensin II (ANGII)-mediated osmoregulation by forming SCTR/ angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) heteromer is well established.

Altered calcium signaling in platelets from nitric oxide-deficient hypertensive rats

open access: yesCell Communication and Signaling, 2004
Background In the present study we have analyzed the mechanisms of calcium entry and mobilization in platelets obtained from rats chronically treated with the nitric oxide synthesis inhibitor, N-nitro L-arginine methyl ester [L-NAME, 40 mg/kg/day, 5 days)

Ratiometric analysis of calcium mobilization

open access: yesClinical and Applied Immunology Reviews, 2000
Abstract One of the earliest events in lymphocyte activation is an increase in the concentration of cytosolic free Ca 2 +. Antigen recognition, chemotaxis, apoptosis and cell cycle progression are all associated with changes in cytosolic free Ca 2 + levels. The kinetics, subcellular localization, and degree of Ca 2 + mobilization can be assessed with

Revolutionising Agricultural Sustainability: New ‘Furrow Tillage’ can Mitigate Short‐Term Soil‐to‐Atmosphere CO2 Flux and Promote Soil‐Plant‐Microbe Health

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Furrow tillage resolves the conventional‐vs.‐no‐tillage trade‐off by simultaneously cutting CO2 efflux to 2.0–3.0 g C m−2 d−1 and unlocking high nutrient availability for the rice rhizosphere. This scalable agronomic solution strengthens soil health, enhances plant physiology, reshapes microbial metabolism, and shifts paddy systems toward a net ...

Transposable Element–Driven PIEZO Mutation Enhances Locust Flight in Plateau Hypoxia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Why transposable elements (TEs) persisted or expanded in genomes remains a mystery. Using integrated analysis of TE macro‐ and microevolution in locusts, our results showed that thousands of TE insertions promoted widespread adaptive variation. Subfamilies of candidate adaptive TEs amplified and reshaped species‐level genomic architecture.

Re-evaluation of Adrenocorticotropic Hormone and Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone Activation of GPR139 in Vitro

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2018
It is now well established that GPR139, a G-protein coupled receptor exclusively expressed in the brain and pituitary, is activated by the essential amino acids L-tryptophan (L-Trp) and L-phenylalanine (L-Phe) via Gαq-coupling.

Receptor occupation, calcium mobilization, and amylase release in pancreatic acini: effect of CCK-JMV-180

open access: yes, 1989
We examined the relationships between receptor occupation, calcium mobilization, and stimulated amylase release for cholecystokinin octapeptide (CCK-8) and for CCK-JMV-180, an analogue of the COOH-terminal heptapeptide of CCK having the structure Boc ...
