There are several articles on the positioning of calf implants that emphasize the anatomic planes in which they should be placed. However, in none of them are the anatomical characteristics that make calves look attractive specified, and neither are the region's anatomic characteristics that guide us to acquire some criteria about the type, design ...

This paper describes a method of calf augmentation by using gel-filled implants to correct thin or asymmetrical legs. The implants are placed over both heads of the gastrocnemius muscle beneath the fascia cruris superficialis. In order to simplify Glitzenstein's procedure, modified implants were developed by the author. In over 25 cases, this technique

SUMMARY Coccidia of the genus Cryptosporidium were detected at necropsy in a 2-week-old calf that had had diarrhea for 10 days. Cryptosporidial organisms were observed in various stages of their life cycle in the crypts of Lieberkühn and embedded in the microvillus border of the epithelium of the small and large intestines.

Gross post mortem and histopathological changes are described in a calf with toxoplasmosis. The major pathological changes were restricted to the lungs and kidneys and comprised interstitial pneumonia with multifocal necrosis, and glomerular necrosis. Many pseudocysts were present in both organs.

A 5-month-old Holstein heifer was hospitalized because of progressive abdominal distention and decreased growth rate. It had continued to eat and was alert until 5 days before hospitalization. High BUN and serum aspartate transaminase values, hypoproteinemia, and a stress leukogram were ascertained from clinicopathologic evaluation.
