Development of FPGA-Based Data Acquisition System for Metallic Magnetic Calorimeter

open access: yesJournal of Isotopes
Metallic magnetic calorimeters are a class of low-temperature particle detectors based on calorimetry, utilizing metallic paramagnetic temperature sensors to convert the temperature rise of an absorber upon the absorption of incident particle energy into ...

SI Traceable Solar Spectral Irradiance Measurement Based on a Quantum Benchmark: A Prototype Design

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2020
We propose a space benchmark sensor with onboard SI (Système International) traceability by means of quantum optical radiometry. Correlated photon pairs generated by spontaneous parametric down-conversion (SPDC) in nonlinear crystals are used to ...

Radio Interferometric Calibration Using a Riemannian Manifold

open access: yes, 2013
In order to cope with the increased data volumes generated by modern radio interferometers such as LOFAR (Low Frequency Array) or SKA (Square Kilometre Array), fast and efficient calibration algorithms are essential.

Calibration: the Achilles heel of predictive analytics

open access: yesBMC Medicine, 2019
BackgroundThe assessment of calibration performance of risk prediction models based on regression or more flexible machine learning algorithms receives little attention.Main textHerein, we argue that this needs to change immediately because poorly ...

Insights into pegRNA design from editing of the cardiomyopathy‐associated phospholamban R14del mutation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how prime editing guide RNA (pegRNA) secondary structure and reverse transcriptase template length affect prime editing efficiency in correcting the phospholamban R14del cardiomyopathy‐associated mutation. Insights support the design of structurally optimized enhanced pegRNAs for precise gene therapy.

Towards dynamic camera calibration for constrained flexible mirror imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Flexible mirror imaging systems consisting of a perspective camera viewing a scene reflected in a flexible mirror can provide direct control over image field-of-view and resolution. However, calibration of such systems is difficult due to the vast range

LOFAR FACET CALIBRATION [PDF]

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series, 2016
ABSTRACT LOFAR, the Low-Frequency Array, is a powerful new radio telescope operating between 10 and 240 MHz. LOFAR allows detailed sensitive high-resolution studies of the low-frequency radio sky. At the same time LOFAR also provides excellent short baseline coverage to map diffuse extended emission.

Mycobacterium tuberculosis sulfurtransferase SseA is activated by its neighboring gene product Rv3284

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Tuberculosis remains a global health challenge and new therapeutic targets are required. Here, we characterized SseA, a sulfurtransferase from Mycobacterium tuberculosis involved in macrophage infection, and its interaction with the newly identified protein SufEMtb that activates SseA enzymatic activity.

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.
