Development of FPGA-Based Data Acquisition System for Metallic Magnetic Calorimeter

open access: yesJournal of Isotopes
Metallic magnetic calorimeters are a class of low-temperature particle detectors based on calorimetry, utilizing metallic paramagnetic temperature sensors to convert the temperature rise of an absorber upon the absorption of incident particle energy into ...

Multivariate calibration of a water and energy balance model in the spectral domain [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The objective of this paper is to explore the possibility of using multiple variables in the calibration of hydrologic models in the spectral domain. A simple water and energy balance model was used, combined with observations of the energy balance and ...

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Dynamic Bayesian Nonlinear Calibration [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Statistical calibration where the curve is nonlinear is important in many areas, such as analytical chemistry and radiometry. Especially in radiometry, instrument characteristics change over time, thus calibration is a process that must be conducted as ...

Improving self-calibration

open access: yes, 2014
Response calibration is the process of inferring how much the measured data depend on the signal one is interested in. It is essential for any quantitative signal estimation on the basis of the data.

Measurement of the energy resolution and calibration of hybrid pixel detectors with GaAs:Cr sensor and Timepix readout chip [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper describes an iterative method of per-pixel energy calibration of hybrid pixel detectors with GaAs:Cr sensor and Timepix readout chip. A convolution of precisely measured spectra of characteristic X-rays of different metals with the resolution ...

An approach for coherent periodogram averaging of tilt‐series data for improved contrast transfer function estimation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The contrast transfer function (CTF) is an imaging aberration that is a major resolution‐limiting factor in cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM). Precise CTF estimation is key to overcoming this limitation, but is particularly challenging in cryo‐electron tomography (cryo‐ET) data. Here, we present an approach for using geometric information to assist in
