Genomic characterization of swine caliciviruses representing a new genus of Caliciviridae

Virus Genes, 2009
This study reports the molecular characterization of novel caliciviruses, the St-Valérien-like viruses, which were isolated from pig feces in the province of Quebec, Canada between 2005 and 2007. The genomes of St-Valérien-like viruses contain 6409 nucleotides and include two main open reading frames (ORFs).

The Genome of Hawaii Virus and its Relationship with other Members of the caliciviridae

Virus Genes, 2001
Hawaii virus (Hu/NLV/GII/Hawaii virus/1971/US), a member of the genus 'Norwalk-like viruses' (NLVs) in the family Caliciviridae, has served as one of the reference strains for the fastidious caliciviruses associated with epidemic gastroenteritis in humans. The consensus sequence of the RNA genome of Hawaii virus was determined in order to establish its

A conserved sequence motif at the 5′ terminus of the Southampton virus genome is characteristic of the Caliciviridae

Virus Genes, 1995
We have determined the 5'terminal cDNA sequence for the genome of Southampton virus, a recently characterized, human, small round-structured virus (SRSV). Genomic RNA was extracted directly from a stool sample and amplified by RT-PCR by homopolymer tailing of the 3' terminus of the cDNA.

Sensitive detection of humanCaliciviridae by RT-PCR

Journal of Medical Virology, 1996
A semi-nested reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was developed for the detection of human Caliciviridae. The method was evaluated on faecal samples from patients with gastroenteritis sent to the Norwegian National Institute of Public Health for routine diagnosis by direct electron microscopy (EM).

CaliciviridaeandAstroviridae

2014
Caliciviruses and astroviruses, along with rotavirus, are regarded as important causes of viral gastroenteritis. Surveillance studies using recently developed molecular diagnostic methods have also highlighted the importance of human astroviruses and other underreported pathogens as important causes of pediatric acute gastroenteritis.

Antisense treatment of caliciviridae: an emerging disease agent of animals and humans.

Current opinion in molecular therapeutics, 2002
The Earth's oceans are the primary reservoir for an emerging family of RNA viruses, the Caliciviridae, which can cause a spectrum of diseases in marine animals, wildlife, farm animals, pets and humans. Certain members of this family have unusually broad host ranges, and some are zoonotic (transmissible from animals to humans). The RNA virus replicative

Caliciviridae, Astroviridae, Coronaviridae

2003
