Use of feeding rate as an indicator of caloric value in some lepidopterous larvae
A significant, positive correlation between feeding rate and caloric value becomes apparent in 6 species of lepidopterous larvae exposed to different rations, food plants and temperatures.

TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Suppression of Post-Caloric Nystagmus in Experimental Perilymph Fistula
Albino guinea pigs (n=28) were used to establish an animal model of the perilymph fistula (PLF) by suctioning 2-4 wl of perilymph via the left round window membrane.

Loss of AMBRA1 activates MAPK and angiogenesis signaling pathways in melanoma cells
Loss of AMBRA1 in melanoma cells activates multiple oncogenic pathways associated with tumor progression. Transcriptomic and protein network analyses revealed that AMBRA1 depletion enhances MAPK/ERK signaling, angiogenesis, TGF‐β/EMT signaling, and Wnt/axon guidance pathways.

The effect of complete caloric intake restriction on human body odour quality [PDF]
Previous studies on various vertebrates have shown that quantity and quality of food intake affect odour attractiveness as perceived by potential mates. In humans, the quality of body odour is similarly affected by ingested foods, such as by variation in

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Assessment of prisoners’ diet showed that it is deficient in calories as well as in Recommended Daily Allowance values. Caloric value was about 64.9% deficient considering one serving (plate per time) taken. A quantitative-qualitative mixed approach was

Identification of (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 compound
We established a noninfectious BAC‐based SARS‐CoV‐2 replicon that enables antiviral screening under BSL‐2 conditions. Using this platform, we screened 373 food‐derived compounds and identified (20R)‐protopanaxadiol from Panax ginseng as a novel inhibitor of SARS‐CoV‐2 RNA replication, highlighting the value of safe replicon systems for antiviral ...
