Morphological Variation in the Crayfish Cambarellus (Cambarellus) Montezumae (Decapoda: Cambaridae)

open access: closed, 2002
The morphological variation exhibited by populations of Cambarellus (Cambarellus) montezumae in central and western Mexico is analyzed using somatic and genitalic characters. Five populations (Tequisquiapan, Queretaro; Chapultepec and Xochimilco, DF; Atlangatepec Dam, Tlaxcala; and Aljojuca Crater Lake, Puebla) were analyzed through seven morphological

Histochemical distribution of NADPH-diaphorase in the cerebral ganglion of the crayfish Cambarellus montezumae

open access: closedNeuroscience Letters, 1995
The presence and localization of NADPH-diaphorase in the cerebral ganglion of the crayfish Cambarellus montezumae was shown. The reactivity of this enzyme was found in the deuterocerebrum, mainly in the commissure, in fibers of olfactory and accessory lobes, and in the laterodorsal group of cells.

Chapter 7. The Crayfish Cambarellus montezumae as a Possible Freshwater Non-conventional Biomonitor

open access: closed, 2017
A number of natural effects and anthropogenic activities are known to significantly alter the integrity of freshwater bodies. This is a problem that has promoted the development of chemical or biological strategies to identify and quantify the damage in freshwater ecosystems; it is fundamental knowledge that should be followed by preventive or ...

Effect of sex ratio on reproduction, fecundity, and fertility of Montezuma dwarf crayfish (Cambarellus montezumae, Saussure 1857) in closed aquaculture systems

open access: closedAgro Productividad
Objective: Evaluate the impact of sex ratio on reproductive aspects of the crayfish (Cambarellus montezumae) in recirculation systems Design/methodology/approach: Three treatments were used with female-to-male sex ratios (2:1, 3:1, and 5:1). The organisms were collected in the wild, acclimatized, and subsequently introduced into a recirculating ...
