Prescribed burning shows minor impacts on black pine needle terpenes and pine processionary moth larval survival

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 7, July 2026.
Our results highlight that prescribed burning in sub‐Mediterranean pine forests does not affect their resistance to PPM in the short term, either positively or negatively, indicating that it can be implemented to reduce wildfire hazard without influencing forest susceptibility to future PPM outbreaks.

High and dry: Environmental conditions drive opportunities for disease transmission in desert bighorn sheep

open access: yesJournal of Applied Ecology, Volume 63, Issue 7, July 2026.
By using probabilistic models to predict contacts as a function of spatially and temporally varying environmental conditions, we show that population‐level conditions at the time of disease introduction can structure opportunities for transmission within each population.

Cambios en las propiedades electrónicas y magnéticas de materiales a base de carbono: nanotubos y grafeno

open access: yes, 2017
The carbon-based materials such as graphene and carbon nanotubes have attracted great interest in the scientific and technological community for their unique chemical and physical features, e.g. extremely high electrical and thermal conductivity well above most of the known materials, chemical reactivity, mechanical strength or simply as base for ...

Mothbox and Mothbot: Automated light trap and data processing system for scalable insect monitoring

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, Volume 17, Issue 7, Page 2082-2091, July 2026.
Abstract Insects represent the most diverse group of organisms on Earth and comprise the majority of known species; yet they are seldom accounted for in large‐scale biodiversity monitoring systems and conservation planning. We have developed the Mothbox—an open source automated light trap that makes insect monitoring accessible to non‐specialists and ...

Pelvic floor symptoms and quality of life 1 year postpartum in Swedish primiparous women—A follow‐up of a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 105, Issue 7, Page 1275-1286, July 2026.
In this follow‐up of a randomized controlled trial including 1911 primiparous women with a vaginal birth, minor and major second‐degree tears were not associated with pelvic floor dysfunction 1 year postpartum. OASI was associated with colorectal–anal symptoms, whereas episiotomy was associated with vaginal symptoms affecting body image.
