Evaluation of a rapid method for measuring lactate in the venous blood of ruminants

Abstract Background In cattle and small ruminants, blood lactate can predict recovery and survival in various diseases. Increased lactate concentration is associated with an unfavourable‐to‐poor prognosis. Different mobile rapid lactate measurement devices have been explored in different animal species.

Nanobody–chlorin e6 conjugate for Nectin‐4‐mediated tumor targeting and enhanced photodynamic therapy

Nectin‐4 is frequently overexpressed in solid tumors, yet many PDT photosensitizers show poor water solubility and nonspecific uptake. A Nectin‐4‐targeted nanobody–chlorin e6 conjugate (NPC) improves aqueous solubility and selectively accumulates in Nectin‐4‐positive tumor cells.

Comparative functional morphological study of the tarsal joint mobility in artiodactyls and perissodactyls in light of astragalar morphological differences

This study investigated how variations in the shape of the astragalus affect tarsal joint behavior, using CT scans. In artiodactyls with a double‐pulley astragalus, the calcaneus shifted plantarly during plantarflexion. This suggests the movement increases hindlimb functional length and contributes to enhanced running speed.
