Isotheasaponins B1–B3 from Camellia sinensis var. sinensis tea leaves

Phytochemistry, 2006
Three saponins, isotheasaponins B1-B3, were isolated from the leaves of the tea plant Camellia sinensis var. sinensis, and their structures were determined to be theasapogenol B [beta-D-galactopyranosyl(1-->2)][beta-D-xylopyranosyl(1-->2)-alpha-L-arabinopyranosyl(1-->3)]-beta-D-gulcopyranosiduronic acid with two acyl groups by spectroscopic analysis.

Caffeine biosynthesis in Camellia sinensis

Phytochemistry, 1976
Abstract The metabolism of adenine and guanine, relating to the biosynthesis of caffeine, in excised shoot tips of tea was studied with micromolar amounts of adenine-[8-14C] or guanine-[8-14C]. Among the presumed precursors of caffeine biosynthesis, adenine was the most effective, whereas guanine was the least effective.

Paenibacillus camelliae sp. nov., isolated from fermented leaves of Camellia sinensis

The Journal of Microbiology, 2008
A novel bacterium, strain blls-2(T) was isolated from Pu'er tea. The isolate was Gram-positive, endospore-forming motile rod that grew at 15 approximately 42 degrees C and pH 6.0 approximately 10.2. The DNA G+C content was 48.3 mol%, the predominant isoprenoid quinone was MK-7, and the predominant cellular fatty acid was anteiso-C15:0 (54.2%) followed ...

Tea (Camellia sinensis L.)

2018
Auxin 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) was assessed individually for its effectiveness to induce somatic embryogenesis in tea (Camellia sinenesis L.). Embryonic axes as explants were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium containing 0, 1 and 5 μM 2,4-D.

Camellia sinensis transcriptome project

2010
Using the high throughput Illumina RNA-Sequencing, the transcriptome from poly (A)+ RNA of C. sinensis was analyzed at depth of 2.59 giga base pairs. Approximate 34.5 million reads were obtained, trimmed, and assembled into 127,094 unigenes, with an average length of 355 bp and an N50 of 506 bp, which consisted of 788 contig clusters and 126,306 ...
