Molecular analysis of heavy chain-only antibodies of Camelus bactrianus

Biochemistry (Moscow), 2014
In this work, IgG content and structures of antigen-binding domains and hinge regions of different IgG subtypes of Camelus bactrianus were analyzed in detail for the first time. Our data demonstrate that C. bactrianus contains a very large amount of heavy chain-only antibodies that can be used as a source of VHH domain-containing molecules.

Anatomical subdivisions of the stomach of the Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus)

Journal of Morphology, 2000
Twenty stomachs of Bactrian camels (Camelus bactrianus) were studied by gross dissection. Based on the configuration of the stomach and the structure of the mucous membrane, the stomach was divided into three ventricles that differ from the arrangement described for ox and sheep.

Camelus bactrianus (Bactrian camel)

1974
The male karyotype came from lymphocyte cultures and was donated by Dr. Lucien Koulischer, Belgium, and the female karyotype came from lung cultures donated by Dr. David A. Hungerford, Philadelphia. Pairing is arbitrary and classification of the chromosomes is difficult as in other camelids. Many acrocentrics possess short arms and many have satellites.

Septicemic salmonellosis in a two-humped camel calf (Camelus bactrianus)

Tropical Animal Health and Production, 2010
A 1-week old, two-humped female camel (Camelus bactrianus) calf with continual whining, epiphora, anorexia, muscle twitching, and lateral recumbency was referred to a veterinary hospital. Although she died shortly after preliminary clinical examination, but necropsy was performed and tissue samples were taken for further microbiological and ...

Studies on rickets and osteomalacia in Bactrian camels (Camelus bactrianus)

The Veterinary Journal, 2005
Epidemiological studies have indicated incidences of 32.9% and 27.8% for rickets and osteomalacia, respectively, in Bactrian camels (Camelus bactrianus), but there is an increased incidence under drought conditions, sometimes reaching 75%. We have found that concentrations of phosphorus and copper in forage and soil samples in a drought affected area ...

The Arterial Supply of the Metacarpophalangeal Joint in the Bactrian Camel (Camelus bactrianus)

Veterinary Research Communications, 1998
The arterial supply of the six metacarpophalangeal joints was studied in Bactrian camels. The arterial branches supplying the metacarpophalangeal joints were derived from the metacarpal distal perforating, medial and lateral branches of the palmar metacarpal artery III, medial and lateral branches of the palmar common digital artery III and the abaxial

The Arterial Supply to the Eye of the Bactrian Camel (Camelus bactrianus)

Veterinary Research Communications, 2002
The arterial supply to the eye of the bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) was studied by gross dissection. The supply came from the external ophthalmic, external ethmoidal and malar and maxillary tubercular arteries, ophthalmic rete mirabile, and the rostral epidural rete mirabile.

Toxoplasma gondii infection in Bactrian camel (Camelus bactrianus) in China

Veterinary Parasitology, 2013
Camel is important to the economy of many countries. We report Toxoplasma gondii infection in Bactrian camels (Camelus bactrianus), first for this host. Antibodies to T. gondii were found in sera of 7 of 234 C. bactrianus from Qinghai Province, northwestern China. Sera were tested by a commercial indirect hemagglutination test at a cut-off of 1:64. Age

Hump biopsy on large camelids (Camelus dromedarius and Camelus bactrianus)

2013
Composed essentially of adipose tissue containing a high proportion of fat, the hump is a particularity of the camel. The collection of hump fat by biopsy is an easy way for monitoring the composition of fat storage or for the follow-up of xenobiotic lipophilic molecules. The method of biopsy is described.

Camelus Dromedarius, Camelus Bactrianus, Hybrids And Their Wool Morphology

American Journal Of Agriculture And Horticulture Innovations
This article examines the wool morphology characteristics of Camelus bactrianus, Camelus dromedarius camels and their hybrids in relation to the pasture conditions of the Ustyurt Plateau and the camels' age at parturition. The study discusses and draws conclusions about the differences in wool morphology across pasture areas and in the dynamics of ...
