URETERAL METASTASIS AS THE FIRST MANIFESTATION OF ASYMPTOMATIC GASTRIC CANCER [PDF]

open access: yes
Ureteral metastasis from gastric cancer is rare. It is usually diagnosed in the setting of an advanced gastric cancer or on postmortem examination. Isolated ureteral metastasis without involvement of other sites is extremely rare. We describe a 67-year-

The Impact of Perioperative Events on Cancer Recurrence and Metastasis in Patients after Radical Gastrectomy: A Review

open access: yes, 2022
SIMPLE SUMMARY: Gastric cancer (GC) patients who are candidates for radical gastrectomy will experience various perioperative events, which have been shown to promote recurrence and decrease the long-term survival of GC patients.

Macitentan (ACT-064992), a Tissue-Targeting Endothelin Receptor Antagonist, Enhances Therapeutic Efficacy of Paclitaxel by Modulating Survival Pathways in Orthotopic Models of Metastatic Human Ovarian Cancer

open access: yesNeoplasia: An International Journal for Oncology Research, 2011
Potential treatments for ovarian cancers that have become resistant to standard chemotherapies include modulators of tumor cell survival, such as endothelin receptor (ETR) antagonist.

Dual PI3K/AKT and CDK4/6 inhibition reveals selective sensitivity in an SHH medulloblastoma stem cell model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Targeted therapy was evaluated in SHH medulloblastoma using neuroepithelial stem cell (NES) and tumor‐derived NES‐like (tNES) models in 2D monolayers and 3D spheroids. PI3K, AKT, and CDK4/6 inhibitors had minimal effects in NES but markedly reduced viability and growth and induced apoptosis in tNES cells, revealing distinct therapeutic vulnerabilities.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Breast Cancer Associated Metastasis is Significantly Increased in a Model of Autoimmune Arthritis

open access: yes, 2008
Chronic inflammation is known to play a role in cancer initiation, promotion, and metastasis. However, the mechanism by which inflammation promotes metastasis is still unclear.

Targeting myoferlin in ER/Golgi vesicle trafficking reprograms pancreatic cancer-associated fibroblasts

open access: yesThe EMBO Journal
Pancreatic adenocarcinoma (PAAD) cells exploit vesicle trafficking proteins, such as myoferlin (encoded by MYOF), to fuel tumor aggressiveness, yet the presence and function of myoferlin-dependent vesicles in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) remain ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Osteopontin alters DNA methylation through up-regulating DNMT1 and sensitizes CD133+/CD44+ cancer stem cells to 5 azacytidine in hepatocellular carcinoma

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2018
Background In hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), CD133+/CD44+ cells are one subgroup with high stemness and responsible for metastatic relapse and resistance to treatment. Our previous studies have demonstrated that osteopontin (OPN) plays critical roles in

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.
