Diagnostic Performance of Direct PCR Assay for Candida auris Detection: A Comparison of Liquid Amies Transport Medium and Fungal Enrichment Broth

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, EarlyView.
This study evaluated a direct PCR assay for rapid Candida auris screening from skin swabs using two transport media. The direct PCR assay demonstrated high sensitivity (92.0%–96.0%) and rapid turnaround time (~3 h). Liquid Amies medium showed a more favorable specificity profile, supporting its practical utility for screening.
