Gut Microbiota as a Mediator Between Intestinal Fibrosis and Creeping Fat in Crohn's Disease

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intestinal stricture remains one of the most challenging complications in Crohn's disease, and its underlying mechanisms are poorly understood. Accumulating evidence suggests that gut microbiota is significantly altered in stenotic intestines and may play a key role in the development of fibrogenesis in Crohn's disease.

Study of the bactericidal properties of polylactic acid‐based 3D filament

open access: yesJournal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, EarlyView.
PLA with a metallic additive exhibits no antibacterial properties, whereas a photocatalytic TiO2 additive, activated by UV irradiation, produces reactive oxigen species (ROS) that induce bacterial inactivation. Abstract The spread of microorganisms is a global challenge for health, the environment, and the economy.

Management of Vocal Fold Leukoplakia

open access: yesWorld Journal of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Vocal fold leukoplakia (VFL) is a descriptive term for a white plaque in the true vocal folds (TVF). It is estimated at 10.2 cases per 100,000 males and 2.1 per 100,000 females. The most critical aspect of managing a VLF is achieving an accurate pathological diagnosis, since a white plaque in the TVF can have numerous differential diagnoses ...
