Extracts of Hormophysa triquetra showed antifungal activity with marked hyphal deformities in Fusarium oxysporum and Alternaria alternata. Light microscopy and SEM confirmed structural alterations despite unchanged radial growth. Cucumber assays validated reduced disease incidence, linked to fatty‐acid–rich metabolites detected by GC–MS.

Background: In the genus Candida, there are more than 200 yeast species, although only around 10% of them have been found to be dangerous to people and some other animals. Invasive candidiasis is the most prevalent invasive fungal infection examined, and

In Vitro Biofilm Activity of Non-Candida albicans Candida Species [PDF]
Candidosis has been attributed to C. albicans; however, infections caused by non-Candida albicans Candida (NCAC) species are increasingly being recognised.

ABSTRACT Background Managing febrile neutropenia is challenging due to the limited sensitivity of blood culture (BC) and the lack of tools differentiating infectious from non‐infectious fever. T2 magnetic resonance (T2MR) is a culture‐independent system detecting bacteria (T2Bacteria) and yeasts (T2Candida); SeptiCyte RAPID is a host response assay ...

Human Pathogenic Candida Species Respond Distinctively to Lactic Acid Stress
Several Candida species are opportunistic human fungal pathogens and thrive in various environmental niches in and on the human body. In this study we focus on the conditions of the vaginal tract, which is acidic, hypoxic, glucose-deprived, and contains ...

Genetic diversity of medically important and emerging Candida species causing invasive infection [PDF]
Background: Genetic variation in the ribosomal DNA (rDNA) internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region has been studied among fungi. However, the numbers of ITS sequence polymorphisms in the various Candida species and their associations with sources of ...

Candida parapsilosis Biofilm Identification by Raman Spectroscopy [PDF]
Colonies of Candida parapsilosis on culture plates were probed directly in situ using Raman spectroscopy for rapid identification of specific strains separated by a given time intervals (up to months apart). To classify the Raman spectra, data analysis was performed using the approach of principal component analysis (PCA). The analysis of the data sets

Candida Drug Resistance in Patients With Diabetic Foot Ulcers: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis
ABSTRACT Diabetic foot ulcers (DFUs) are one of the most serious and common complications that, if not treated properly, can lead to potential damage and even amputation. The aim of this systematic review and meta‐analysis was to assess the drug‐resistant Candida species in DFU.
