Changes in Timisoara City Hall After 16 years – The 2012 Local Elections. A Case Study

open access: yesSfera Politicii, 2012
Local elections 2012 have found Timisoara in a long lasting situation of political exceptionalism: the mayor in office, coming from an almost dissoluted party was reaching the end of his forth mandate.

Computational determination of hERG-related cardiotoxicity of drug candidates

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2019
Drug candidates often cause an unwanted blockage of the potassium ion channel of the human ether-a-go-go-related gene (hERG). The blockage leads to long QT syndrome (LQTS), which is a severe life-threatening cardiac side effect.

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Pain, Disability, Fear -avoidance and Habitual Physical Activity in Subjects with Low Back Pain with and without Trunk and Hips Rotational Demand Sport Activities

open access: yesمجله پژوهش در علوم توانبخشی, 2014
Introduction: Many factors are related to the disability of subjects with chronic low back pain. Fear-avoidance of injury and movement are the most important risk factors to increase the disability followed by decreased physical activity in these ...

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...

Predictors of response and rational combinations for the novel MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665 in acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study characterizes the responses of primary acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patient samples to the MCL‐1 inhibitor MIK665. The results revealed that monocytic differentiation is associated with MIK665 sensitivity. Conversely, elevated ABCB1 expression is a potential biomarker of resistance to the treatment, which can be overcome by the combination ...

Glycosylated LGALS3BP is highly secreted by bladder cancer cells and represents a novel urinary disease biomarker

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Urinary LGALS3BP is elevated in bladder cancer patients compared to healthy controls as detected by the 1959 antibody–based ELISA. The antibody shows enhanced reactivity to the high‐mannose glycosylated variant secreted by cancer cells treated with kifunensine (KIF).
