Nonlinear quantum capacitance [PDF]
We analyze the nonlinear voltage dependence of electrochemical capacitance for nanoscale conductors. This voltage dependence is due to the finite density of states of the conductors. Within Hartree theory we derive an exact expression for the electrochemical capacitance–voltage curve for a parallel plate system.

Ro 31‐8220 suppresses bladder cancer progression via enhancing autophagy in vitro and in vivo
The pan‐protein kinase C inhibitor Ro‐31‐8220 demonstrates potent anti‐bladder cancer effects both in vitro and in vivo by suppressing migration/invasion, inducing apoptosis and crucially activating autophagy, where blocking autophagy with chloroquine reduces its cell‐killing efficacy, suggesting its promise as a novel therapeutic candidate requiring ...

Calculation of the fraction of pseudo-capacitance and electric double layer capacitance in carbon-based electrochemical capacitors [PDF]
New materials for use in electrochemical capacitors are being developed in different directions: carbon nanotubes, graphene, activated carbon, templated porous carbon, all with the aim of improving their properties by increasing the capacitance of the ...

Diffusion‐based size determination of solute particles: a method adapted for postsynaptic proteins
We present a diffusion‐based approach for measuring the size of macromolecules and their complexes, and demonstrate its use on postsynaptic proteins. The method requires fluorescein‐labelled protein samples, a microfluidic device that maintains laminar flow for said samples, a microscope recording the emitted fluorescent signals, and an analytic ...

Discovery and Treatment of Action Potential‐Independent Myotonia in Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis
ABSTRACT Objective Hyperkalemic periodic paralysis (hyperKPP) is characterized by attacks of transient weakness. A subset of hyperKPP patients suffers from transient involuntary contraction of muscle (myotonia). The goal of this study was to determine mechanisms causing myotonia in hyperKPP.
