Liquidation Values and Debt Capacity: A Market Equilibrium Approach

open access: yes, 1992
We explore the determinants of liquidation values of assets, particularly focusing on the potential buyers of assets. When a firm in financial distress needs to sell assets, its industry peers are likely to be experiencing problems themselves, leading to

Economic growth, carrying capacity, and the environment

open access: yesEnvironment and Development Economics, 1995
Nat iona l and international economic policy has usually ignored the environment. In areas where the environment is beginning to impinge on policy, as in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA)

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

A landscape analysis of clinical trials and infant clinical trials in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Nigeria

open access: yesFrontiers in Epidemiology
IntroductionGlobal inequality in clinical research capacity and service delivery can be indicated simply by the proportion of clinical trials that a country or region has registered in clinical trial registry databases.

Evaluation Capacity Building: Funder Initiatives to Strengthen Grantee Evaluation Capacity and Practice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Innovation Network has a wealth of experience as an evaluation capacity builder. One way we often provide ECB services is to a group of grantees. Over the years we have provided funder-sponsored ECB services to a number of grantee cohorts.

Feedback Capacity of the Compound Channel

open access: yes, 2007
In this work we find the capacity of a compound finite-state channel with time-invariant deterministic feedback. The model we consider involves the use of fixed length block codes. Our achievability result includes a proof of the existence of a universal

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
