Two alternative models concerning the perialveolar microcirculation in mammalian lungs
Despite the fact that the concept of sheet-flow in the pulmonary microcirculation of mammals was introduced more than three decades ago, the capillary circulatory model still prevails in the physiological literature.

The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

An interstitium‐mimicking membrane combines three‐dimensional alveolar geometry, high pore interconnectivity, and mechanical compliance to overcome transport limitations of conventional lung‐on‐chip barriers. The resulting platform supports physiologic aerosol transport, quantitative analysis of cross‐barrier particle movement, and reveals divergent ...

Mass transfer in porous capillaries [PDF]
For widespread introduction of microtechnologies it is necessary to define theoretical bases, to conduct researches and to draw the corresponding conclusions. A cylindrical capillary in which the two-phase gas-liquid mixture moves was considered.

Inspired by lung alveolar architecture, a dual‐templating strategy combining CO2 bubble and ice templating creates mechanically robust super‐macroporous hydrogels with highly interconnected transport pathways. The resulting material achieves 3.37× faster moisture sorption and 1.72× higher solar‐driven water release than single‐templated counterparts ...
