Demographic structure of Siberian roe deer (Capreolus pygargus Pall.) population in central Yakutia
Russian Journal of Ecology, 2013The dynamics of the sex and age structure of Siberian roe deer in central Yakutia has been analyzed over the period from 1998 to 2011. In the snowy winter of 2004, mass migration and high mortality of the animals were recorded. The following shift of the adult sex ratio in favor of females and increase in the proportion of calves provided for rapid ...

Gamma-amino butyric acid (GABA) negatively regulates the excitatory activity of neurons and is a predominant neurotransmitter in the nervous system. The olfactory bulb, the main center in the olfactory system, is modulated by inhibitory interneurons that use GABA as their main neurotransmitter. The present study aimed to evaluate GABAergic transmission

Two types of nuclear DNA markers, M13 minisatellites and RAPD, were used to examine intraspecific and interspecific variation in closely related roe deer species, Capreolus capreolus L. and C. pygargus Pall. The roe deer populations studied were highly polymorphic for minisatellite DNA markers (S = 0.12-0.36).
