Smoking, 17 Alpha-Hydroxyprogesterone Caproate, and Preterm Birth [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Perinatology, 2016
Objective The objective of this study was to determine if maternal smoking modifies the effectiveness of 17 α-hydroxyprogesterone caproate (17OHP-C). Study Design Secondary analysis of the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Units Network trial of 17OHP-C. The prevalence of preterm birth (PTB) by smoking status and treatment group was compared by chi-squared ...

Integrated GC–MS and FT‐NIRS Characterization of Metabolic Differences Between Fresh and Dried Fruits of Five Genus Amomum

open access: yesJournal of Food Biochemistry, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Amomum is a diverse genus whose metabolites are dominated by volatile compounds; however, differences in metabolism levels between fresh and dried fruits remain unclear. Our results indicated that metabolite differences between fresh and dried fruits were expressed in relative content rather than in species.

The Traditional Chinese Medicine Compound Hezi Qingyou Formula Controls the MAPK Signaling Pathway for Alleviating Gastric Ulcer Induced by Acetic Acid in Rats

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
In clinical practice, Hezi Qingyou Formula (HZQYF) has been observed to effectively alleviate clinical symptoms associated with gastri ulcers, though its precise mechanism of action remains unclear. To investigate the effects of HZQYF on gastric ulcers, we established a rat model of gastric ulcer and examined its impact on ulcer area, pathological ...

Hydroxyprogesterone caproate therapy in advanced endometrial cancer [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1971
In 314 women with advanced progressing adenocarcinoma of the uterine corpus (endometrial cancer) no longer responding to established anticancer measures, hydroxyprogesterone caproate1 (1.0 or more g/week intramuscularly for 4 or more weeks) induced an objective response (averaging 20 months in duration) consisting of regression in 30.2% or arrest of ...

Detection of Anabolic Androgenic Steroids and Steroid Esters—Comparing Dried Blood Spots Collection Devices and Urine Samples

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, Volume 17, Issue 12, Page 2374-2383, December 2025.
DBS (Capitainer‐B50 and Tasso‐M20) enabled detection of testosterone esters in all participants, whereas urine testing (T/E) missed cases including potential UGT2B17 del/del carriers and individuals with testosterone prescription. More AAS and steroid‐esters could be detected in Capitainer‐B50 versus Tasso‐M20.

Flavor Evaluation of “Hongyang” Kiwifruit From Different Cultivation Regions Based on Electronic Tongue Sensory Assessment and HS‐SPME‐GCMS Analysis

open access: yesFuture Postharvest and Food, Volume 2, Issue 4, Page 381-389, December 2025.
1) The samples from Liupanshui orchards in Guizhou province exhibited relatively higher levels of sweetness and sourness. 2) The most comprehensive aroma profile to date for ‘Hongyang’ kiwifruit was established. 3) Among the 15 differential volatile organic compounds (VOCs), (E)‐3‐octen‐2‐one and 2‐pentanoylfuran were key markers distinguishing ...

The Role of the Vaginal Microbiome in Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes: A Comprehensive Review of Mechanisms and Clinical Implications

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 12, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Aims Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM), a complication in approximately 4.5% of pregnancies, is a leading cause of preterm birth and significant perinatal morbidity. A substantial body of evidence implicates vaginal dysbiosis a departure from a healthy, Lactobacillus‐dominant microbiome in the pathogenesis of PPROM.
