Solidification points of binary mixtures of caprylic and capric acids

Oil & Soap, 1945
Clearly defined inflections characterize the solidification point diagram of binary mixtures of caprylic and capric acids. These diagrams have been presented together with pertinent data and a description of a tested procedure for preparing these acids from readily available raw material.

Aversion of the cat to dietary medium-chain triglycerides and caprylic acid

Physiology & Behavior, 1985
Young, specific-pathogen-free cats were fed purified diets containing different sources of fat. Food intake was depressed and cats lost weight when the diet contained either hydrogenated coconut oil (HCO) or medium-chain triglycerides (MCT). With an MCT preparation enriched in 8:0 (MCT8), cats would not eat after first tasting the diet.

Use of Caprylic Acid in Broiler Chickens: Effect on Campylobacter jejuni

Foodborne Pathogens and Disease, 2015
The effect of caprylic acid (CA) on Campylobacter jejuni in chickens was evaluated using two approaches: dietary supplementation or surface treatment of chilled chicken carcasses. To analyze the dietary effect of CA, individually housed broiler chickens (n = 48) were artificially infected with C. jejuni VFU612 (10(6) colony-forming units [CFU]/bird) on

Caprylic acid as an aid for the rapid isolation of human ceruloplasmin

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1970
Abstract A simple technique for the isolation of ceruloplasmin from plasma or Fraction III (containing the proteins of Cohn fraction IV 1 ) is described. The majority of proteins are precipitated with caprylic acid and crude ceruloplasmin is obtained by adsorption on DEAE-cellulose (DE 52).

Lipase-Catalyzed Modification of Canola Oil with Caprylic Acid

2011
Lipase-catalyzed acidolysis of canola oil with caprylic acid was performed to produce structured lipids. Six commercial lipases from different sources were screened for their ability to incorporate the caprylic acid into the canola oil. The positional distribution of FA on the glycerol backbone of unmodified oil and oil modified by Lipozyme RM IM ...
