ESR1 methylation and ESR1 mutations in circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and paired plasma‐cfDNA of advanced breast cancer patients: A feasibility proof‐of‐concept study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) were analyzed to detect ESR1 mutations and methylation in patients with advanced breast cancer. CTC‐derived DNA showed higher sensitivity for mutation detection and revealed complementary genetic and epigenetic alterations, highlighting the added value of CTC analysis for understanding ...

State Capture in a Federation [PDF]

open access: yes
The paper provides evidence that the welfare effect of decentralization in countries with weak democratic institutions depends on the multi-jurisdictional vs. single-jurisdictional span of interest group lobbies.

Attentional Capture in Stimulus Rich Computer Interfaces [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
Previous theoretical work has identified a set of attentional mechanisms. This paper explores the practical implications of these mechanisms. Two findings that have particularly inspired this practical work are, 1) the existence of a very rapid (first ...

The application of ubiquitous multimodal synchronous data capture in CAD

open access: yes, 2013
Design is an interactive and iterative process where the designer’s skills and knowledge are fused with emotive rationales aided by design tools. A design solution is thus influenced by the designer’s creativity, experience and emotional perception ...

Interpreting the effects of DNA polymerase variants at the structural level

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using MAVISp and molecular dynamics simulations, we analyzed over 60 000 missense variants in POLE and POLD1 from ClinVar, COSMIC, cBioPortal, and saturation mutagenesis. Identified mechanistic indicators, including stability, binding, and long‐range, enable structural interpretation, providing ACMG‐like evidence for possible reclassification of VUS ...

Engineering scale-up and environmental effects of the calcium looping cycle for post-combustion carbon dioxide capture

open access: yes, 2013
This thesis has addressed several gaps in the knowledge with regards to the calcium looping cycle for carbon dioxide capture, including identification of engineering challenges associated with the scale-up of the technology to pilot scale and beyond ...

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

Covalent Organic Frameworks for the Capture and Photoluminescent Sensing of Pharmaceutical Pollutants in Aqueous Media

open access: yesInorganics
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as promising materials for the capture and photoluminescent detection of pharmaceutical contaminants in aquatic environments due to their tunable porosity, high surface area, and structural versatility ...
