A $C_2$-equivariant analog of Mahowald's Thom spectrum theorem

open access: yes, 2018
We prove that the $C_2$-equivariant Eilenberg-MacLane spectrum associated to the constant Mackey functor $\underline{\mathbb{F}}_2$ is equivalent to a Thom spectrum over ${\Omega^\rho S^{\rho + 1}}$.Comment: 10 pages; minor updates following referee ...

Proximity to Natural Habitat Is Not Consistently Associated With Pollination Services in Tropical Smallholder Farms: A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesEcology Letters, Volume 28, Issue 12, December 2025.
We conducted a systematic review and meta‐analysis of 35 studies to examine the relationship between distance to natural habitat and pollinator abundance, species richness and crop fruit set in tropical smallholder farms. We found no consistent effects on abundance or fruit set, and only a slight, highly variable negative effect on pollinator richness,

Olshanski spherical functions for infinite dimensional motion groups of fixed rank [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Consider the Gelfand pairs $(G_p,K_p):=(M_{p,q} \rtimes U_p,U_p)$ associated with motion groups over the fields $\mathbb F=\mathbb R,\mathbb C,\mathbb H$ with $p\geq q$ and fixed $q$ as well as the inductive limit $p\to\infty$,the Olshanski spherical ...

Intolerance of Uncertainty, Cognitive Avoidance, Positive Beliefs About Worry and Negative Problem Orientation: Relevance to Anxiety Disorders, OCD and Depression in Youth

open access: yesClinical Psychology &Psychotherapy, Volume 32, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
ABSTRACT Intolerance of uncertainty (IU), cognitive avoidance (CA), positive beliefs about worry (PBW) and a tendency to view everyday problems as threats, termed negative problem orientation (NPO), are cognitive vulnerabilities associated with symptoms of anxiety and depression in adults, with fewer studies examining all four vulnerabilities in youth.

Effect of anticholinergic eye drops on intraorbital, periorbital and brain pulsation power

open access: yesActa Ophthalmologica, Volume 103, Issue 7, Page e511-e523, November 2025.
Abstract Purpose The study aims to investigate the effect of pharmacologically reducing parasympathetic activity on ocular and cerebral pulsations, inspired by recent discoveries of a glymphatic‐like system in the eye driven by physiological pulsations.

Potential of Photovoltaic and Diesel Off‐Grid Systems for Irrigation in Brazil Considering Carbon Credits

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 74, Issue 4, Page 1553-1574, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Irrigation is a crucial practice for the security of rural businesses, ensuring agricultural production even in periods without rainfall. This work aimed to analyse the financial viability of an off‐grid photovoltaic (PV) system as an alternative to traditional energy sources for pumping irrigation in Brazilian agricultural areas.

Clay Mineral–Hydrophobic Organic Compound Interactions in Miniaturized Adsorption Experiments: Exemplary Studies With Bentonites and Hexachlorobenzene

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 188, Issue 5, Page 788-800, October 2025.
Clay mineral–hydrophobic organic compound interactions were studied with hexachlorobenzene and 21 bentonites. Adsorption strength varies depending on bentonite properties. For highly adsorptive bentonites, adsorption is comparable with adsorption to organic matter.
