Assets among low-income families in the Great Recession. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
This paper examines the association between the Great Recession and real assets among families with young children. Real assets such as homes and cars are key indicators of economic well-being that may be especially valuable to low-income families. Using

In Situ Amine Formation to Modulate MOF‐Derived PdIn N‐Doped Carbon Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
An amine‐assisted approach converts PdIn‐MOF into PdIn intermetallic nanoparticles embedded in N‐doped carbon. In situ‐generated amines trigger early Pd nucleation, producing smaller PdIn domains than direct pyrolysis. Amine sterics and basicity tune composition and particle size, while solvent and amine co‐determine textural features.

Local car markets in an emerging economy: exploring the dichotomous nature of car ownership growth

open access: yesEuropean Transport Research Review
The intensive motorization growth observed in emerging and developing economies has attracted increased academic attention. However, many existing studies frequently investigate the car ownership determinants that are typical of Western countries and use

Low Traffic Neighbourhoods, Car Use, and Active Travel: Evidence from the People and Places Survey of Outer London Active Travel Interventions

open access: yesFindings, 2020
This paper reports on analysis of impacts of active travel interventions in Outer London between 2016-19. We find larger effects (decreased car ownership and use, increased active travel) in intervention areas where Low Traffic Neighbourhoods (LTNs) were

Modeling dynamics in household car ownership over life courses: a latent class competing risks model

open access: yesTransportation, 2020
This study presents a latent class competing risks model to examine the influence of socio-demographics and life course events on car transaction behaviour.

Large‐Area 2D Metasurface‐Based Triboelectric E‐Skin Arrays: Contact & Proximity Tactile Mapping with Broadband Acoustic Readouts

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurface‐engineered NC‐TENG arrays integrate tactile pressure mapping, non‐contact gesture sensing, and acoustic signal readouts in one ultrathin module, and outperforms pristine PDMS in terms of electrical output and real‐time spatial mapping for next‐gen wearables.

Car ownership and welfare‐to‐work [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Policy Analysis and Management, 2002
AbstractThis study examines the role of car ownership in facilitating employment among recipients under the current welfare‐to‐work law. Because of a potential problem with simultaneity, the analysis uses predicted car ownership constructed from two instrumental variables, insurance premiums and population density for car ownership.

The impact of curbside parking regulations on car ownership

open access: yes, 2020
Car ownership is a major driver of household travel behavior and has a marked impact on transport demand, energy consumption, emission levels and land use. However, just how curbside parking regulations (i.e.

Surface‐Capped Protein Nanoparticles for Nonviral Gene Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Developing simple, safe, and efficient nonviral delivery systems remains a significant challenge in bioengineering. Nanoparticles offer promising gene delivery capabilities with reduced toxicity; however, long‐standing challenges related to effective plasmid encapsulation and delivery exist.
