Synthesis of Isocyanates and Carbodiimides
Angewandte Chemie International Edition in English, 1966AbstractThe reaction of 1,3‐disubstituted ureas and 1‐arylsulfonyl‐3‐alkylureas with phosgene permits the preparation of a number of isocyanates and sulfonyl isocyanates that had not previously been described, or that were difficult to prepare. 1,3‐Disubstituted thioureas and 1‐aryl‐(or alkyl)sulfonyl‐3‐alkylthioureas give carbodiimides.

Properties of carbodiimide treated heparin
Biomaterials, 2003Heparin, a well-known anticoagulant, has been frequently used to coat surfaces for attaining blood compatibility of polymeric materials. Since carbodiimides are often used for immobilization of heparin on these biomaterials, the present study intended to evaluate some properties of carbodiimide-treated heparin.

Magnesium Catalysis for the Hydroboration of Carbodiimides
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2016AbstractA β‐diketiminato magnesium alkyl complex, [CH{C(Me)NDipp}2}MgnBu] (Dipp=2,6‐iPr2C6H3), was shown to be an effective pre‐catalyst for the first reported catalytic hydroboration of alkyl‐ and aryl‐substituted carbodiimides with pinacol borane (HBpin).

Cross-Linking of Gelatin with Carbodiimides
Tissue Engineering, 1996Carbodiimides were employed for cross-linking of gelatin through amide bond formation to avoid any foreign bond incorporation into the cross-linked gelatin molecules. Cross-linking of gelatin was performed not in aqueous solution but in the form of a film under a heterogenous condition. Ethanol-water mixtures were used as the reaction medium to prevent

Computational Studies of Carbodiimide Rings
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2014Computational studies of alicyclic carbodiimides (RN═C═NR) (rings five through twelve) at the MP2/6-31G(d,p)//MP2/6-31G(d,p) level of theory were conducted to locate the transition states between carbodiimides isomers. Transition states for rings six through twelve were found. The RNCNR dihedral angle is ∼0° for even-numbered rings, but deviates from 0°

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the mechanism of the carbodiimide method. The carbodiimide method was introduced to peptide synthesis with the use of dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC) to affect dehydration and peptide bond formation. The procedure consisting of adding DCC to a solution of the N -protected amino acid and amino acid or peptide ...

Organoactinide‐Catalyzed Monohydroboration of Carbodiimides
Chemistry – A European Journal, 2018AbstractThe organoactinide‐catalyzed monohydroboration of carbodiimides is reported herein. The catalytic reactions proceed under very mild conditions in a highly atom‐efficient and highly selective fashion to afford the corresponding monohydroborated N‐borylformamidine products in high yields.
