Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Comparison of the Body Composition of Caucasian Young Normal Body Mass Women, Measured in the Follicular Phase, Depending on the Carbohydrate Diet Level

open access: yesMedicina, 2018
Background and objectives: Some publications indicate the possibility of the influence of meal nutritional value on results of bioelectrical impedance, and of the relation between the long-term carbohydrate intake and body composition.

Identification of serum protein biomarkers for pre‐cancerous lesions associated with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This work identified serum proteins associated with pancreatic epithelial neoplasms (PanINs) and early‐stage PDAC. Proteomics screens assessed genetically engineered mice with abundant PanINs, KPC mice (Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐KrasG12D/+ Lox‐STOP‐Lox‐Trp53R172H/+ Pdx1‐Cre) before PDAC development and also early‐stage PDAC patients (n = 31), compared to benign ...

Nictemeral composition of corn plants: afternoon harvest decreases dry matter recovery and increases silage starch content and in vitro degradation [PDF]

open access: yesCiência Rural
: Plants’ physiology changes through the day because photoassimilates can increase water-soluble carbohydrate concentration in the afternoon compared to the morning.

The content of buckwheat flour in wheat bread [PDF]

open access: yesActa Periodica Technologica, 2014
Seven samples of bread were prepared in a special way. Samples were made of a mixture of wheat and buckwheat flour in defined proportions. Carbohydrates from crumbs of bread were derivatized with BSTFA and analyzed by GC-MS.

Gut microbiota adaptation to low and high carbohydrate-to-protein ratio diets in grass carp (Ctenopharyngodon idella)

open access: yesAquaculture Reports, 2023
This study attempted to explore the adaptability of gut microbiota in grass carp to diets with different carbohydrate-to-protein ratios in order to better understand the immunological and metabolic changes in the organism.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

Metatranscriptomics Unravel Composition, Drivers, and Functions of the Active Microorganisms in Light-Flavor Liquor Fermentation

open access: yesMicrobiology Spectrum, 2022
The microbial community in the fermented pit determines the quantity and quality of light-flavor liquor. Genetic diversity and the potential functions of the microbial community are often analyzed by DNA-based omics sequencing.

Dapagliflozin prevents methylglyoxal‐induced retinal cell death in ARPE‐19 cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Diabetic macular oedema is a diabetes complication of the eye, which may lead to permanent blindness. ARPE‐19 are human retinal cells used to study retinal diseases and potential therapeutics. Methylglyoxal is a compound increased in uncontrolled diabetes due to elevated blood glucose.

Effects of dietary carbohydrate composition on rumen fermentation characteristics and microbial population in vitro

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2015
The objective of the experiment was to evaluate the effects of dietary carbohydrate composition on rumen fermentation characteristics and microbial populations in vitro. The treatments were organized in three different carbohydrate composition diets: the
