Carbohydrate Oxidation in Hypophysectomized Rats

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1936
It was noted that rats hypophysectomized∗ for 6 to 8 weeks, with metabolic rates 70% of those of normal controls (as determined gravimetrically by the Haldane method), frequently showed high respiratory quotients (R.Q.) after a fasting period of 24 hours. Values as high as 0.78 to 0.81 were sometimes observed, the average of a series of 19 observations

Metal–Organic Frameworks for Gaseous Pollutant Management: From Capture to Neutralization and Reutilization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review maps how MOFs can manage hazardous gases by combining adsorption, neutralization, and reutilization, enabling sustainable air‐pollution control. Covering chemical warfare agent simulants, SO2, NOx, NH3, H2S, and volatile organic compounds, it highlights structure‐guided strategies that boost selectivity, water tolerance, and cycling ...

Appetite, gut hormone and energy intake responses to low volume sprint interval and traditional endurance exercise. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Sprint interval exercise improves several health markers but the appetite and energy balance response is unknown. This study compared the effects of sprint interval and endurance exercise on appetite, energy intake and gut hormone responses.

Targeting Post‐Irradiation Thyroid Dysfunction: Electrospun Scaffolds As A Dual‐Action Approach for Antioxidant and Immune Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Radiation‐induced hypothyroidism follows head and neck radiotherapy due to oxidative stress and inflammation. Electrospun polycaprolactone scaffolds containing adenosine have potential to modulate thyroid repair. Scaffolds enhance thyrocyte proliferation, antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase and catalase, reduce senescence and apoptosis markers ...

TNF blockade contributes to restore lipid oxidation during exercise in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis

open access: yesPediatric Rheumatology Online Journal, 2019
Background Children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) have impaired physical abilities. TNF-α plays a crucial role in this pathogenesis, but it is also involved in the use of lipids and muscle health.
