Finance and Carbon Emissions [PDF]

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2019
We study the relation between the structure of financial systems and carbon emissions in a large panel of countries and industries over the period 1990-2013. We find that for given levels of economic and financial development and environmental regulation, CO2 emissions per capita are lower in economies that are relatively more equity-funded.

Effects of atmospheric circulations on the interannual variation in PM2.5 concentrations over the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei region in 2013–2018 [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2020
The Chinese government has made many efforts to mitigate fine particulate matter pollution in recent years by taking strict measures on air pollutant reduction, which has generated the nationwide improvements in air quality since 2013. However, under the

PRICING CARBON EMISSIONS IN CHINA [PDF]

open access: yesAnnals of Financial Economics, 2018
The review paper provides a strategy for determining carbon emissions pricing in China to guide how carbon emissions might be mitigated to reduce fossil fuel pollution. China has promoted the development of clean energy, including hydroelectric power, wind power, and solar energy generation.

Carbon emissions, carbon disclosure and organizational performance

open access: yesInternational Review of Financial Analysis, 2023
This study draws on the multi-perspectives of organizational legitimacy theory to investigate the simultaneous association between corporate carbon emissions, carbon disclosure and organizational performance. Based on a sample of 62 UK Financial Times Stock Exchange (FTSE) 100 firms in carbon-sensitive sectors during 2010–2017, we find that carbon ...

Corporate Carbon Emission Statements

open access: yesSSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
Current corporate disclosures regarding carbon emissions lack commonly accepted accounting rules. The accrual accounting system for carbon emissions described here is grounded in the rules of historical cost accounting for operating assets, enabling the preparation of balance sheets and flow statements.

Climate-dependent CO2 emissions from lakes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Inland waters, just as the world's oceans, play an important role in the global carbon cycle. While lakes and reservoirs typically emit CO2, they also bury carbon in their sediment.

Dominant synoptic patterns associated with the decay process of PM2.5 pollution episodes around Beijing [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2021
The variation in the concentrations of ambient PM2.5 (particles with an aerodynamic diameter less than 2.5 µm) generally forms a continuous sawtooth cycle with a recurring smooth increase followed by a sharp decrease.
