Motion Management for Carbon Ion Therapy at the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center [PDF]
In 2011, stereotactic body radiotherapy was introduced for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma at the Heidelberg Ion-Beam Therapy Center (HIT). Initially, thirteen patients were treated, including the first patient treated using respiratory beam gating.

Energy-Loss Straggling and Delta-Ray Escape in Solid-State Microdosimeters Used in Ion-Beam Therapy
Microdosimetry is increasingly adopted in the characterization of proton and carbon ion beams used in cancer therapy. Spectra and mean values of lineal energy calculated in frequency and dose are seen by many as the tools which, by complementing ...

Slight Truncation Changes in Iron Oxide Nanocubes Strongly Affect Their Magnetic Properties
Subtle variations in nanoparticle morphology can lead to significant changes in functional properties. An automated shape‐fitting method captures minor differences in corner truncation between iron oxide nanocubes of similar sizes synthesized under identical conditions, revealing pronounced disparities in their magnetic and hyperthermia behavior ...

Phase Space Generation for Proton and Carbon Ion Beams for External Users’ Applications at the Heidelberg Ion Therapy Center [PDF]
In the field of radiation therapy, accurate and robust dose calculation is required. For this purpose, precise modeling of the irradiation system and reliable computational platforms are needed. At the Heidelberg Ion Therapy Center (HIT), the beamline has been already modeled in the FLUKA Monte Carlo (MC) code. However, this model was kept confidential

Near‐Infrared Light‐Driven Zn/Au Janus Micromotors for Multiplex SERS Detection of Anticancer Drugs
Zn/Au Janus micromotors, propelled by thermophoretic effects under NIR light, function as active SERS platforms for single and multiplex detection of anticancer drugs. Their dynamic motion enhances analyte exchange at the Au interface, reducing saturation and competitive adsorption, thereby improving sensitivity and extending the linear detection range.
