Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

Bimetallic (NiFe) and trimetallic (NiFeCr) nanoalloys (NAs) are synthesized using corresponding oxide mixtures using microwave hydrogen plasma within a few milliseconds. The process simultaneously 1) reduces metal oxides to metals; 2) downsizes the particles from micrometers to nanometers; and 3) blends the metals to form NAs.

In this work, a magnetic core‐shell catalyst (HOF‐on‐Fe3O4/ZIF‐67) is successfully synthesized, consisting of a metal–organic framework (ZIF‐67) with magnetic Fe3O4 as the core and a porous hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) as the shell. The catalyst efficiently activated peroxymonosulfate, resulting in rapid and effective removal of water ...

A lack of standard approaches for testing and reporting the performance of metal halide perovskites and organic semiconductor radiation detectors has resulted in inconsistent interpretation of performance parameters, impeding progress in the field. This Perspective recommends key metrics and experimental details, which are suggested for reporting in ...

Easily synthesized carbon dots for determination of mercury(II) in water samples
In this work, a simple thermal method was used to synthesize carbon dots from citric acid and glycine precursors. It was found that Hg(II) ions can selectively quench the fluorescence emission of these carbon dots. Subsequently, a sensor was designed and

Entropy Drives Calcium Carbonate Ion Association
AbstractThe understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying the early stages of crystallisation is still incomplete. In the case of calcium carbonate, experimental and computational evidence suggests that phase separation relies on so‐called pre‐nucleation clusters (PNCs).

Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.
