New paleopteran and polyneopteran insects from the Carboniferous of Northern France [PDF]
Two paleopteran and four polyneopteran insects are described from the Moscovian, Pennsylvanian, of coal slag heaps of Avion and Bruay-la-Bussière, Pas-de-Calais, Northern France, namely the spilapterid paleodictyopteran Spilaptera sp., Megasecoptera ...

Berberine–cinnamic acid co‐crystal (BBR‐CA) inhibits the phosphorylation of the phosphatidylinositol 3‐kinase (PI3K)/AKT/mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) pathway, suppressing the transfer of pre‐sterol regulatory element‐binding proteins‐1 (SREBP‐1) from the endoplasmic reticulum to the nucleus. This results in a decrease in the expression level of

Abstract A thick upper Carboniferous sequence was deposited in the Netherlands and adjacent areas. Despite intense erosion during the late Carboniferous and early Permian, it has been preserved beneath the unconformably overlying successions. The preserved thickness locally exceeds 5500 m.

The Southern Carboniferous Flora [PDF]
So far as I am aware, Dr. Kurtz's paper on the newly discovered Carboniferous Flora in Argentina had not been noticed in print in this country until the appearance of the number of NATURE for September 26, which contained a note (p. 523) giving a brief abstract from the translation published in the Records of the Geological Survey of India.

The thermal history of the Western Irish onshore [PDF]
We present here a low-temperature thermochronological study that combines the apatite fission-track and (U + Th)/He dating methods with a pseudo-vertical sampling approach to generate continuous and well-constrained temperature–time histories from the ...

Epigallocatechin‐3‐gallate (EGCG) acutely inhibited gluconeogenesis and enhanced glycolysis, glycogenolysis, and fatty acid oxidation in perfused rat livers. Mechanistic assays revealed mitochondrial uncoupling, inhibition of pyruvate carboxylation and glucose‐6‐phosphatase, shift of NADH/NAD+ ratios toward oxidation, and loss of membrane integrity ...

Geophysical investigation along parts of the Dent and Augill Faults [PDF]
The areas covered in the present investigation lie near the towns of Brough and Kirkby Stephen. They include parts of the Dent and Augill Faults, which form the western margins of the Askrigg and Alston Blocks respectively.

Sarcosine oxidase from Bacillus sp. (SoxB) recognizes l‐proline (l‐Pro), d‐proline (d‐Pro), and l‐thioproline (l‐Tpr) as minor substrates. In this study, we measured their absorption spectra, determined the crystal structures of their enzyme complexes, and performed site‐directed mutagenesis of key residues.

IV.—On the Carboniferous Polyzoa [PDF]
As so much remains to be done before the Palæozoic Polyzoa can be properly classified—more particularly the Carboniferous species—it seems to me that the wisest course to adopt is to go carefully over the work of other authors, reviewing their labours generally, and giving, in as condensed a form as possible, the results of their varied efforts.
