Formation of carboxylic acids during degradation of monosaccharides
The formation of low molecular carboxylic and hydroxycarboxylic acids as well as sugar and deoxysugar acids from monosaccharides (D-glucose, D-fructose, D-arabinose, DL-glyceraldehyde, and 1,3-dihydroxyacetone) was studied in three different model ...

4-t-Butylbenzylation of carboxylic acid for GC–MS analysis
We report a 4-t-butylbenzyl derivatization for the analysis of carboxylic acids by GC–MS (EI). Carboxylic acids were analyzed as a 4-t-butylbenzyl ester after the derivatization with 4-t-butylbenzyl bromide. On the mass spectra of 4-t-butylbenzyl ester, [

Inhibitors of Bacterial \u3cem\u3eN\u3c/em\u3e-succinyl-L,L-diaminopimelic Acid Desuccinylase (DapE) and Demonstration of in vitro Antimicrobial Activity [PDF]
The dapE-encoded N-succinyl-L,L-diaminopimelic acid desuccinylase (DapE) is a critical bacterial enzyme for the construction of the bacterial cell wall. A screen biased toward compounds containing zinc-binding groups (ZBG’s) including thiols, carboxylic ...

Edge-carboxylated Carbon Nanoflakes from Nitric Acid Oxidised Arc-discharge Material [PDF]
Carbon Nanoflakes (CNFs) with average diameters of about 30 nm have been prepared and isolated in bulk quantities by a single-step oxidation procedure using single-wall carbon nanotube arc-discharge material and nitric acid. The CNFs are predominately single, graphenic sheets containing a small number of internal defects.

Isolation and X-ray Structures of Labile Benzoic- and Acetic-Acidium Carbocations [PDF]
New carbocationic salts (via O-protonation of substituted benzoic acids) are prepared for the first time by controlled hydration of the corresponding benzoylium salts and isolated in pure crystalline form.
