Interface-induced water structuring at polymer surfaces in alkali-metal electrolytes

open access: yese-Polymers
This study investigated the interface-induced structuring of water on polymer surfaces under conditions of a strong electrolyte background, reflecting typical real-world aqueous environments where dissolved salts are constantly present.

The Development and Properties of alginate/κ‐carrageenan Hydrogel: Beeswax Oleogel Bigels

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 8, August 2026.
Alginate/κ‐carrageenan hydrogel and beeswax/palm oil oleogel were combined to produce bigels with high oleogel retention and pH‐responsive behavior. Hydrogel composition, oleogel concentration, and hydrogel‐to‐oleogel ratio influenced bead microstructure, mechanical properties, and swelling characteristics.

Pomegranate Peel Polyphenol Extract Ameliorates Hyperuricemia by Inhibiting Uric Acid Synthesis and Reabsorption

open access: yesChemical Biology &Drug Design, Volume 108, Issue 2, August 2026.
The graphical abstract illustrates the action mechanisms through which PPE alleviates HUA by inhibiting XOD activity, and by suppressing the PI3K‐AKT signaling pathway to downregulate the expression of the urate reabsorption transporters URAT1 and GLUT9, thereby promoting renal UA excretion and attenuating renal injury.

In situ evaluation of the bleaching efficacy of experimental hydrogen peroxide hydrogel with MnO‐doped Biosilicate activated by violet LED light

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Oral Sciences, Volume 134, Issue 4, August 2026.
Abstract Hydrogen peroxide (HP) at 35% is effective for dental bleaching but may reduce enamel mineral content and induce structural changes. This study developed a bleaching‐hydrogel containing 6%HP and manganese‐oxide–doped Biosilicate (MnO_BioS), activated by violet LED, under in situ conditions.

Hydroxyapatite–Mesoporous Silica Composites for Dual Quercetin Release and Encapsulation Efficiency

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Ceramic Technology, Volume 23, Issue 4, August 2026.
This study demonstrates that HAP/Si hybrid composites are promising carriers for quercetin delivery, offering high drug encapsulation and tunable pH‐dependent release behavior. Structural characterization confirmed successful composite formation, while release modeling indicated that diffusion and matrix erosion jointly controlled quercetin release ...

Depression effect of CMC on sulfide ore flotation and its influencing factors

open access: yes工程科学学报
Depressants are crucial for the selective separation of mineral flotation. Depressants can be classified into organic and inorganic depressants. Inorganic depressants have the disadvantages of toxicity, large dosage, and poor separation efficiency ...

Acid-Induced Gelation of Carboxymethylcellulose Solutions

open access: yesACS Macro Letters
The present work offers a comprehensive description of the acid-induced gelation of carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), a water-soluble derivative of cellulose broadly used in numerous applications ranging from food packaging to biomedical engineering. Linear viscoelastic properties measured at various pH and CMC contents allow us to build a sol-gel phase ...

Management of Polycaprolactone Filler‐Induced Ischemia With “THIS and FAT” Protocol: A Case Series

open access: yesJournal of Cosmetic Dermatology, Volume 25, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Polycaprolactone (PCL)–based fillers demonstrate clinical advantages and favorable aesthetic outcomes. However, due to the nature of their constituents, they present unique and serious challenges, particularly regarding vascular adverse events such as embolism, tissue necrosis, and visual loss. Aims This study presents a case series

Analysis of the Substituent Distribution in Carboxymethyl-1,4-glucans on Different Structural Levels—An Ongoing Challenge

open access: yesPolysaccharides
Carboxymethylglucans (CMGs) are widely used semisynthetic polyelectrolytes, e.g., for pharmaceuticals. They are produced in heterogeneous processes on activated starch granules or cellulose fibers.
