Genetic Evaluation Weight, Carcass and Stayability in Nellore Females
ABSTRACTTraits related to growth, carcass quality and stayability are key components in enhancing the profitability and sustainability of Nelore cattle production systems. This study aimed to estimate heritabilities and genetic and environmental correlations for these traits using a Bayesian approach.

Abstract Background Ensuring livestock welfare throughout the production chain, including transport, is an ethical and regulatory imperative. However, protocols to assess transport‐related welfare during routine abattoir inspections are not standardised, including antemortem (AM) inspection by an official veterinarian at UK abattoirs.

Porcine circovirus 2 vaccination timing was not associated with piglets’ serological response
Abstract Background The development of immunity in pigs starts in utero, but piglets are born immunologically immature and rely on maternal antibodies. Weaning exposes piglets to multiple stressors, yet vaccination is commonly performed around weaning.

Second‐order habitat selection is influenced by a variety of factors, including individual‐ and species‐specific traits and resource requirements, as well as landscape characteristics. By comparing home range characteristics across individuals, species, and landscapes, we can draw conclusions regarding whether and how different factors influence home ...

Effect of breed-type on carcass weight and composition in sheep
The relative rate of increase in the carcass and its tissues with increasing empty body weight (EBW) or carcass weight respectively, was studied in male sheep from the Dorset Horn (29), Hampshire (21) and Sudan Desert sheep (31). The rate at which the carcass, muscle and bone increased in weight was the same in all breeds but the Desert sheep deposited

After decades of dramatic reductions in their populations, Italian wolves have begun recolonizing parts of their historic range. This growth in populations can lead to potential conflicts with human activities, which remain the main cause of wolf mortality.
