Spatiotemporal distribution patterns of immature Australasian white sharks (Carcharodon carcharias). [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2020
AbstractIn Australian and New Zealand waters, current knowledge on white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) movement ecology is based on individual tracking studies using relatively small numbers of tags. These studies describe a species that occupies highly variable and complex habitats.

First evidence of white sharks, Carcharodon carcharias, in the tongue of the ocean, central Bahamas

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The white shark, Carcharodon carcharias, is an iconic apex predator, playing an important ecological role across its range. Persistent bycatch and overfishing led to white shark declines, but recent studies in the North Western Atlantic (NWA) revealed ...

Mitochondrial genome of an Atlantic white shark (Carcharodon carcharias). [PDF]

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA B Resour, 2016
Here we report the first full mitochondrial genome sequence for a white shark caught in the Atlantic Ocean. The mitochondrial genome is 16,745 bp in length and contains 13 protein-coding genes, 22 tRNA genes, 2 rRNA genes, and a non-coding control region. The base composition of this mtDNA lineage is A: 30.7%, C: 26.9%, G: 13.8%, and T: 28.6%.

Occurrence of great white shark, Carcharodon carcharias (Elasmobranchii: Lamniformes: Lamnidae), off Corsica (northern Mediterranean): historical and contemporary records [PDF]

open access: yesActa Ichthyologica et Piscatoria, 2013
The capture of a juvenile, male, great white shark, Carcharodon carcharias (Linnaeus, 1758), off the Corsican coast (Mediterranean Sea) in 2012 is reported in this note along with two other new records (1976 and 2011).

Observations of Multiple Young-of-the-Year to Juvenile White Sharks (Carcharodon carcharias) within South-West Australian Waters and Its Implications for a Potential Nursery Area(s)

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
The white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) is a globally distributed top predator. Due to its ecological importance, increasing knowledge through continued research can enhance management measures.

Trophic position of Otodus megalodon and great white sharks through time revealed by zinc isotopes

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Here the authors demonstrate the use of zinc isotopes (δ66Zn) to geochemically assess trophic levels in extant and extinct sharks. They show that the Neogene megatooth shark (Otodus megalodon) and the great white shark (Carcharodon carcharias) occupied a
