Electrochemical Nitrate Reduction Reaction to Ammonia at Industrial‐Level Current Densities

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review starts from the mechanism and theoretical basis of electrochemical nitrate reduction reaction (NO3−RR), and systematically summarizes and discusses the design strategies of industrial‐level current density catalysts. In addition, the progress of industrial‐level NO3−RR‐based electrolyzers, including flow reactor and membrane electrode ...

Using EGA-GC to Analyze Nicotine N-oxide in Order to Explain Low Nicotine Concentrations in E-cigarette Liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Evolved-gas analysis coupled with gas chromatography (EGA-GC) was used to analyze e-cigarette liquids. Previous analyses of e-cigarette liquids have shown that the determined concentration of nicotine is lower than the advertised concentration.

ML Workflows for Screening Degradation‐Relevant Properties of Forever Chemicals

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The environmental persistence of per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) necessitates efficient remediation strategies. This study presents physics‐informed machine learning workflows that accurately predict critical degradation properties, including bond dissociation energies and polarizability.

Genomic and proteomic profiling of responses to toxic metals in human lung cells. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Examining global effects of toxic metals on gene expression can be useful for elucidating patterns of biological response, discovering underlying mechanisms of toxicity, and identifying candidate metal-specific genetic markers of exposure and response ...

Serum Bile Acids Are Useful Indicators of Intrahepatic Recurrence After Initial Curative Hepatectomy for Hepatocellular Carcinoma

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Bile acids accumulation in hepatocytes causes liver damage and contributes to the development of hepatocellular carcinoma. However, the association between serum bile acid levels and postoperative intrahepatic recurrence in hepatocellular carcinoma remains unclear.

Differential Prognostic Impact of Prior Cholecystectomy Between Proximal and Distal Colorectal Cancer: A 12‐Year Retrospective Cohort Study of 3487 Consecutive Patients

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
In this retrospective cohort of 3487 patients with CRC, history of CCY was associated with significantly worse prognosis in patients with proximal CRC but not in those with distal CRC. This differential prognostic impact showed a statistically significant interaction between tumor location and history of CCY and remained robust after PSM.

Twenty‐Year Longitudinal Cohort Study of Cancer Incidence and Mortality Among Workers in Two Primary Aluminum Prebake Smelters

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Industrial Medicine, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Classified as carcinogenic to humans by the International Agency for Research on Cancer, aluminum production has been transitioning towards lower polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon‐emitting prebake smelters. This study explored the risk of cancer and mortality over 20 years follow‐up among a cohort of aluminum prebake smelter workers ...
