Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Lactoferrin treatment activates acetylcholinesterase, decreasing acetylcholine levels in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) cell culture supernatants, inhibiting cell survival

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Representation of the suggested mode of action of lactoferrin (Lf) in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) A549 cells. Lf induces activation of caspase‐3 by activating p53 and AChE leading to decreased ACh concentrations. In turn, ACh signaling leads to activation of VEGF and AKT and blocking of caspase‐3.

Histological Transformation to Small Cell Carcinoma of an Adenosquamous Carcinoma of the Lung With Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Mutation in Exons 20 and 21 After Treatment With Erlotinib: Case Report

open access: yesClinical Medicine Insights: Circulatory, Respiratory and Pulmonary Medicine, 2019
Lung carcinoma currently represents 1 of the leading causes of death from cancer worldwide and regionally. The molecular identification of sensitive mutations of targeted treatment have changed the strategies of pharmacologic management in non-small cell

Basic and Clinical Aspects of Non-neuronal Acetylcholine: Expression of Non-neuronal Acetylcholine in Lung Cancer Provides a New Target for Cancer

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2008
Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide and new treatment strategies are clearly needed. The recent discovery that lung and other cancers synthesize and secrete acetylcholine (ACh) which acts as an autocrine growth factor suggests that

Indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase 1 inhibition reverses cancer‐associated fibroblast‐mediated immunosuppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CAF‐mediated immunosuppression in ovarian cancer is driven by IDO1, reducing T‐cell function. Inhibiting IDO1 restores T‐cell proliferation and cytotoxicity, increases cancer cell apoptosis, and may help overcome CAF‐induced immune suppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer. Targeting IDO1 may improve antitumor immunity.
