The scaffold‐free Anchored Cell Sheet Engineering platform is used to create three‐dimensional (3D) in vitro models of skeletal muscle tissue that replicate key features of Duchenne and Myotonic dystrophies. These personalized tissue models, validated by histological, immunostaining, and proteomics analyses, accurately mimic disease phenotypes and ...

Deletion of HP1γ in cardiac myocytes affects H4K20me3 levels but does not impact cardiac growth
Background Heterochromatin, which is formed when tri-methyl lysine 9 of histone H3 (H3K9me3) is bound by heterochromatin 1 proteins (HP1s), plays an important role in differentiation and senescence by silencing cell cycle genes.

L-CO-Net: Learned Condensation-Optimization Network for Clinical Parameter Estimation from Cardiac Cine MRI [PDF]
In this work, we implement a fully convolutional segmenter featuring both a learned group structure and a regularized weight-pruner to reduce the high computational cost in volumetric image segmentation. We validated our framework on the ACDC dataset featuring one healthy and four pathology groups imaged throughout the cardiac cycle.

The cycle of form and function in cardiac valvulogenesis
AbstractThe formation and remodeling of the embryonic valves is a complex and dynamic process that occurs within a constantly changing hemodynamic environment. Defects in embryonic and fetal valve remodeling are the leading cause of congenital heart defects, yet very little is known about how fibrous leaflet tissue is created from amorphous gelatinous ...

Cardiac cycle oscillatory dynamics in a self-paced precision task [PDF]
Purpose. A gradual and transient lengthening of the cardiac cycle (cardiac deceleration) is typically observed in the few seconds leading to self-paced precision actions and is reported as a feature of expertise.

TIMING RELATIONSHIPS IN HUMAN CORTICAL PROCESSING [PDF]
Although a number of studies have suggested that the phases of the alpha cycle and the cardiac cycle reflect temporal relationships in cortical processing, these studies are not conclusive.

Motor‐Free Soft Robots for Cancer Detection, Surgery, and In Situ Bioprinting
Novel motor‐free soft robots for cancer detection, surgery, and in situ bioprinting–are presented. This master‐slave system is constructed from soft fibrous syringe architectures, removing the need for electrical motors and complex control mechanisms, while reducing the physical tremors.
