Metal–Organic Framework‐Based Antimicrobial Touch Surfaces to Prevent Cross‐Contamination

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A MOF‐based antimicrobial door handle cover is developed. It completely inhibits the cross‐contamination of Gram‐positive bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterococcus faecalis), Gram‐negative bacterial species (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii), and fungi (Candida albicans). Abstract Infection diseases

Cardiac Urea Cycle Activation by Time‐Restricted Feeding Protects Against Pressure Overload‐Induced Heart Failure

open access: yesAdvanced Science
Heart failure is a leading cause of mortality worldwide, necessitating the development of novel therapeutic and lifestyle interventions. Recent studies highlight a potential role of time‐restricted feeding (TRF) in the prevention and treatment of cardiac

Sarcomere Control Mechanisms and the Dynamics of the Cardiac Cycle [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Biomedicine and Biotechnology, 2010
This review focuses on recent developments in the molecular mechanisms by which Ca activates cardiac sarcomeres and how these mechanisms play out in the cardiac cycle. I emphasize the role of mechanisms intrinsic to the sarcomeres as significant determinants of systolic elastance and ventricular stiffening during ejection. Data are presented supporting

CAROTID THREE-DIMENSIONAL ULTRASOUND: LONGITUDINAL MEASUREMENT AND CARDIAC-GATED ACQUISITION [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Carotid atherosclerosis is the main cause of stroke - the fourth leading cause of death in Canada - and can be quantified by ultrasound measurements. Intima-media thickness (IMT), total plaque area (TPA) and 3-dimensional ultrasound vessel wall volume ...

Bidirectional Recurrence for Cardiac Motion Tracking with Gaussian Process Latent Coding [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Quantitative analysis of cardiac motion is crucial for assessing cardiac function. This analysis typically uses imaging modalities such as MRI and Echocardiograms that capture detailed image sequences throughout the heartbeat cycle. Previous methods predominantly focused on the analysis of image pairs lacking consideration of the motion dynamics and ...

Assessment Of Response To Heart Failure Therapy: Ventricular Volume Changes Versus Shape Changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The prolate ellipsoid left ventricular geometry is crucial for its unique contraction and relaxation patterns. Perturbations in optimal cardiac function preceding overt heart failure ensue when this ellipsoid shape assumes a more spherical configuration.

Engineering CAR‐T Therapeutics for Enhanced Solid Tumor Targeting

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
CART cell therapy has proven effective for blood cancers but struggles with solid tumors due to diverse antigens and complex environments. Recent efforts focus on improving CAR design and validation platforms. Advances in protein engineering, machine learning, and organoid systems aim to enhance CAR‐T therapy against solid tumors.
