The role of extracellular vesicles in cell–cell crosstalk in cardiotoxicity

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Administration of a pharmacological agent can result in off‐target cardiotoxicity which can be driven by cell–cell crosstalk between healthy and dysfunctional cardiac cells. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are lipid bilayer structures that can move biological cargo between cells, facilitating cell–cell crosstalk.

Coordinated regulation of PIEZO2 by alternative splicing, post‐translational modification, membrane trafficking and protein partners

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Regulatory mechanisms such as alternative splicing, post‐translational modification, membrane trafficking, and protein interactions control channel gating, membrane abundance, and overall activity of PIEZO2. Proper regulation supports PIEZO2‐dependent proprioceptive, somatosensory, nociceptive, pruriceptive and interoceptive ...

Joining Forces:establishing A Cardio-Oncology Program [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Patients have been surviving cancer diagnoses at a steady increasing rate over the past few decades. In spite of the encouraging decline in cancer morbidity, the cardiovascular effect of some chemotherapy medications is concerning.

Asymptomatic Cardiotoxicity After High‐Dose Anthracycline Treatment in Sarcoma Patients Assessed by Biomarkers and Echocardiography

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 11, Page 2755-2765, 1 December 2026.
ABSTRACT Treatment of sarcoma includes high‐dose anthracyclines, which can cause cardiotoxicity. This study assesses the correlation of cardiac biomarkers and echocardiographic parameters on asymptomatic cardiotoxicity in sarcoma patients treated with anthracyclines.

Validation of a Novel, Low‐Cost, Portable MRI‐Compatible Exercise Device in Healthy Volunteers and Patients With Pulmonary Hypertension

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 11, November 2026.
We developed a simple, low‐cost MR‐compatible exercise device as an alternative to commercial ergometers. In this proof‐of‐concept study, it evoked a robust stress response during MR‐augmented cardiopulmonary exercise testing and distinguished pulmonary arterial hypertension patients from healthy controls.

Stratifying Cardiovascular Risk in Patients With HCC Receiving Atezolizumab/Bevacizumab: A Comparison of ESC and CARDIOSOR Scores

open access: yesLiver International, Volume 46, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT Background & Aims The management of comorbidities has become increasingly relevant in unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC) as immunotherapy prolongs survival. Atezolizumab plus bevacizumab (AB) is a standard first‐line option, but bevacizumab carries a risk of cardiovascular toxicities.

Cardiovascular Toxicity Associated With Bispecific Antibodies in Hematological Malignancies: A Comprehensive Pharmacovigilance Analysis

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 101, Issue 10, Page 2546-2556, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Cardiovascular adverse events (CVAEs) associated with bispecific T‐cell engaging antibodies (BsAbs) have not been systematically investigated across approved agents. In this disproportionality analysis of FAERS (December 2014–September 2025), reports listing BsAbs as the primary suspected drug (n = 7647) were compared with all other drugs in ...

Lanreotide, a Somatostatin Analogue, in Advanced Merkel Cell Carcinoma: A Prospective Single‐Arm Phase II Study

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Merkel Cell Carcinoma (MCC) is a rare, aggressive neuroendocrine and epithelial skin cancer. Somatostatin analogues, such as lanreotide, have shown efficacy in managing other neuroendocrine tumors. Retrospective studies suggest that lanreotide may induce partial response or disease stabilization in patients with advanced MCC.

Cancer and Hypertension: Shared Mechanisms, Treatment Interactions, and Clinical Management

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Cancer and hypertension (HTN) frequently coexist, and their relationship is increasingly recognized as a clinically relevant intersection between oncology and cardiovascular medicine. However, the extent to which this association reflects shared risk factors, common biological mechanisms, or treatment‐related effects remains incompletely ...
