International Journal of Cosmetic Science, Volume 45, Issue S1, Page 67-83, October 2023., 2023 Both organic and mineral UV filters released by bathers were analysed in a beach water over 2 years. Summer peak attendance on the beach was associated with peak level of UV filter concentration in the bathing water. UV filters’ occurrence in water could be related to their respective physical–chemical characteristics.

A data gap was identified regarding the information on biodegradability of transformation products of UV filters. For more than 80% of the transformation products, no information on biodegradability was available.
