Spontaneous carotid artery dissection-associated medial changes in a selected autopsy population

open access: yes, 2008
Spontaneous carotid artery dissection (SCAD) is a major cause of stroke in young adults, yet its pathogenesis remains unclear. Hereditary connective tissue diseases, hormonal influences, sympathomimetic drugs or upper respiratory tract infections may ...

Intrinsically Mitochondria‐Targeting Nanozyme via Coordination‐Assembly of Natural Quercetin for Cascade Antioxidant Therapy of Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that quercetin naturally targets mitochondria. By coordinating quercetin with Fe3+, we engineer an ultrasmall cascade nanozyme (MCN) with superoxide dismutase‐catalase activities. MCN crosses the damaged blood–brain barrier, scavenges mitochondrial ROS, prevents mitochondrial DNA leakage, and blocks the cGAS‐STING pathway, thereby ...

Factors associated with cardiovascular events after simultaneous liver–kidney transplant from the US Multicenter Simultaneous Liver–Kidney Transplant Consortium

open access: yesHepatology Communications, EarlyView., 2022
Abstract Cardiovascular disease is a leading complication after both liver and kidney transplantation. Factors associated with and rates of cardiovascular events (CVEs) after simultaneous liver–kidney transplant (SLKT) are unknown. This was a retrospective cohort study of adult SLKT recipients between 2002 and 2017 at six centers in six United Network ...

光学相干断层成像在颈内动脉系统中的应用进展 Application Progress of Optical Coherence Tomography in Internal Carotid Artery System

open access: yesZhongguo cuzhong zazhi, 2018
Abstract: Internal carotid artery system supplies the

Multiple Carotid Artery Occlusive Diseases Treated with Staged Subclavian-carotid Artery bypass and Carotid Endarterectomy: Case Report [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
Approximately 2% of patients who are evaluated for symptomatic carotid artery disease have complete occlusion of a common carotid artery. Surgical management for the symptomatic carotid occlusion has various options. Surgical treatment for these patients

The E3 Ligase RNF115 Aggravates Pathological Cardiac Hypertrophy via Ubiquitin‐Mediated Degradation of SPTBN1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In response to hypertrophic stimuli, increased c‑JUN phosphorylation upregulates RNF115, leading to SPTBN1 ubiquitination and degradation. which promotes F‑actin depolymerization and YAP activation, driving cardiac hypertrophy. The RNF115 inhibitor DTD effectively suppresses SPTBN1 ubiquitination and cardiac hypertrophy.

Rough Set Based Approach for IMT Automatic Estimation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Carotid artery (CA) intima-media thickness (IMT) is commonly deemed as one of the risk marker for cardiovascular diseases. The automatic estimation of the IMT on ultrasound images is based on the correct identification of the lumen-intima (LI) and media ...

Endovascular repair of giant latrogenic common carotid artery pseudoaneurysm

open access: yes, 2014
Delayed presentation of carotid artery pseudoaneurysm following many years after self-inflicted penetrating injury of the neck is extremely rare. Open surgical carotid repair may involve sternotomy for proximal vascular control. Endovascular treatment is
