Multiphase Dynamics in Arbitrary Geometries on Fixed Cartesian Grids

open access: yesJournal of Computational Physics, 1997
A mixed Eulerian-Lagrangian algorithm for interface tracking is applied to compute flows with solid-fluid and fluid-fluid interfaces. The method is capable of handling fluid flows in the presence of both irregularly shaped solid boundaries and moving boundaries on a fixed Cartesian grid. The field equations are solved on the underlying fixed grid using

A MATLAB‐Based Tool for Stress‐Guided Path Planning in Continuous Fiber Reinforced 3D Printing

open access: yesMacromolecular Symposia, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Additive manufacturing of continuous fiber‐reinforced composites offers exciting opportunities for the design of lightweight, high‐performance structures. This paper presents a MATLAB‐based computational tool for the automated generation of paths for reinforcing fibers in fused filament fabrication (FFF) processes, guided by the principal ...

Spherical Gravity Forwarding of Global Discrete Grid Cells by Isoparametric Transformation

open access: yesMathematics
For regional or even global geophysical problems, the curvature of the geophysical model cannot be approximated as a plane, and its curvature must be considered.

Computation of Pressure Fields around a Two-Dimensional Circular Cylinder Using the Vortex-In-Cell and Penalization Methods

open access: yesModelling and Simulation in Engineering, 2014
The vorticity-velocity formulation of the Navier-Stokes equations allows purely kinematical problems to be decoupled from the pressure term, since the pressure is eliminated by applying the curl operator.

Nonlocal active sound control for composite regions

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
In the active sound control problem, additional sound sources, known as control sources, are implemented at the perimeter of a protected domain. The control sources can generate secondary sound inside the shielded domain, which attenuates incoming noise. This leads to an inverse source problem.

Study On A Nested Cartesian Grid Method

open access: yes, 2008
In this paper, the local grid refinement is focused by using a nested grid technique. The Cartesian grid numerical method is developed for simulating unsteady, viscous, incompressible flows with complex immersed boundaries. A finite volume method is used in conjunction with a two-step fractional-step procedure.
