Formaldehyde-treated temporofascial graft versus cartilage graft in repairing failed tympanic membrane grafting

open access: yesThe Egyptian Journal of Otolaryngology, 2017
Aim The aim of this study was to compare the anatomical and functional outcomes of grafting the tympanic membrane (TM) – that is, previously failed grafting – by two graft materials: the first was formaldehyde-treated temporalis fascia graft (FTFG) and ...

Asian rhinoplasty using a thin rib cartilage graft and ultrafine diced cartilage wrapped in fascia: A comparative study between septal cartilage graft and rib cartilage graft

open access: yesJournal of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgery, 2023
A 1-2-mm thin rib cartilage graft was used as a septal extension graft to overcome the drawbacks of traditional rib cartilage rhinoplasty, which often results in a stiff nasal tip. The remaining rib cartilage was placed on the nasal dorsum as an ultrafine diced cartilage wrapped in fascia (UDCWF) graft.

Versatility and Outcomes of ‘Mumbai Technique’ of Stacked Cartilage Grafts in Indian Rhinoplasty

open access: yesIndian Journal of Plastic Surgery
Background Augmentation rhinoplasty requires graft with substantial volume. In cases where patient is reluctant to use costal cartilage, this can be done using septum and conchal cartilage graft. Using the technique of “stacked cartilage graft”

A Clinical Study of Decellularized Tissue Engineering Hyaline Cartilage Graft (dLhCG) for Articular Cartilage Repair [PDF]

open access: yesAdvanced science
ABSTRACT Current clinical approaches for knee cartilage repair are often limited by hypertrophy and fibrosis in the regenerated tissues. A decellularized tissue‐engineered hyaline cartilage graft (dLhCG), composed of a type II collagen‐based extracellular matrix, has been developed to overcome this limitation.

The Incidence and Clinical Relevance of Graft Hypertrophy After Matrix-Based Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Background: Graft hypertrophy is the most common complication of periosteal autologous chondrocyte implantation (p-ACI). Purpose: The aim of this prospective study was to analyze the development, the incidence rate, and the persistence of graft ...

Cartilage Grafting

open access: yesSeminars in Plastic Surgery, 2019
AbstractArthritis remains a widespread and yet unsolved therapeutic dilemma. Cartilage grafting has proven to be difficult and satisfactory results are often elusive. There are several inherent difficulties. These include both chondrocyte migration and the lack of sufficient uptake of nutrients to allow for graft survival.

Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation: Second-Look Arthroscopy

open access: yesVideo Journal of Sports Medicine, 2023
Background: A known complication following autologous chondrocyte implantation (ACI) for the repair of cartilage defects is graft hypertrophy. Although hypertrophic tissue can sometimes be asymptomatic, it may cause pain, catching, or effusion prompting ...

Precultivation of engineered human nasal cartilage enhances the mechanical properties relevant for use in facial reconstructive surgery [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
To investigate if precultivation of human engineered nasal cartilage grafts of clinically relevant size would increase the suture retention strength at implantation and the tensile and bending stiffness 2 weeks after implantation.
