Dominant thermogravimetric signatures of lignin in cashew shell as compared to cashew shell cake
Bioresource Technology, 2014Dominant thermogravimetric signatures related to lignin were observed in cashew shell as compared to these signatures in cashew shell cake. The phenomenon of weakening of lignin from cashew shell to cashew shell cake was explained on the basis of changes in the activation energies.

Pyrolysis of cashew nut shell: A parametric study
Vietnam Journal of Chemistry, 2020AbstractCashew nut shell, a waste from cashew nut production, could become a potential biomass feedstock for gasification. In this study, a complete parametric study of cashew nut shell was conducted in pyrolysis conditions that are relevant to industrial processes.

The ultrastructure of shelled and unshelled cashew nuts
Micron, 2013Cashew nuts have many attributes, including sensory, nutritional and health appeal, which contribute to their worldwide acceptance. We demonstrate details of the microstructure of shelled and unshelled cashew kernels with regard to pericarp and cotyledon organization. This study also provides evidence of the colonization of these kernels by filamentous

Chemical Valorization of Cashew Nut Shell Waste
Topics in Current Chemistry, 2018Cashew nut shells are agro-wastes produced from cashew nut processing factories and contain about 30-35 wt% oil called cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL). This liquid is a mixture of four potential compounds, namely anacardic acid, cardanol, cardol and 2-methyl cardol.

MINI SEMI-AUTOMATIC SHELLING MACHINE: A POSSIBILITY FOR CASHEW SHELLING
International Journal Semiarid, 2022This work aims to help cashew nut producers in the act of de-nutting the nut. This processis done completely manually by the workers. Faced with this problem, we decided to createa prototype capable of speeding up this method that takes place in a slow and difficult way, bringing to the worker little production and physical wear, caused by poor posture ...

Anacardic Acid: Molluscicide in Cashew Nut Shell Liquid
Planta Medica, 1982The components of anacardic acid, (a mixture of 6-n-C (15) alkylsalicylic acids whose side chains vary in degrees of unsaturation) have been isolated by high pressure liquid chromatography from a crude extract of cashew nut shell, Anacardium occidentale, and tested for toxicity to fresh water snails, Biomphalaria glabrata.

Antileishmania and immunomodulatory potential of cashew nut shell liquid and cardanol
Toxicology in Vitro, 2023Conventional treatments for leishmaniasis have caused serious adverse effects, poor tolerance, development of resistant strains. Natural products have been investigated as potential therapeutic alternatives. The cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) is a natural source of phenolic compounds with several biological activities, where cardanol (CN) is considered

Enzymatic bioremediation of cashew nut shell liquid contamination
Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2010Cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL), a by-product of the cashew kernel industry, is a caustic, viscous, dark liquid. The process is done manually, which leaves stains on the hands of the workers. The aim was to find the utility of enzymes, oxidoreductases and proteases for the bioremediation of CNSL, which contains phenolics, mainly cardanol (60-65%).

Force control approach for the automation of cashew-shelling operation
Proceedings of 2012 IEEE 17th International Conference on Emerging Technologies & Factory Automation (ETFA 2012), 2012Vietnam is one of the world's largest countries in terms of exportingers of cashews nuts in kernel (edible portion) form. Currently, more than 200,000 labors are engaged in the cashew processing industry. Although most cashew processing operations have been automated, the shelling operation is still conducted manually.
