Inhibition of RACK1‐Mediated NLRP3 Oligomerization (Active Conformation) Ameliorates Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Schematic diagram showing the potential mechanism of bigelovin on the activation of NLRP3 inflammasome Bigelovin may inhibit activated protein C kinase 1 (RACK1) by directly binding with cys168 of RACK1. Bigelovin thus prevents oligomerization of NLRP3 (NLRP3 active conformation) and subsequent assembly of NLRP3 inflammasome, blocking the activation of

HIC1 suppresses Tumor Progression and Enhances CD8+ T Cells Infiltration Through Promoting GSDMD‐induced Pyroptosis in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
These findings elucidate the innovative role of HIC1 as a transcriptional activator in GC, driving the initiation of pyroptosis and enhancing CD8+ T cell infiltration, which has certain novelty and creative significance. Collectively, targeting HIC1 can present an appealing immunotherapeutic strategy to improve outcomes in GC patients.

Phosphorylation of caspase-8 by RSKs via organ-constrained effects controls the sensitivity to TNF-induced death

open access: yesCell Death Discovery
Caspase-8 (Casp8) serves as an initiator of apoptosis or a suppressor of necroptosis in context-dependent manner. Members of the p90 RSK family can phosphorylate caspase-8 at threonine-265 (T265), which can inactivate caspase-8 for bypassing caspase-8 ...

Intracellular Formation of Synthetic Peptide Nanostructures Causes Mitochondrial Disruption and Cell Death in Tumor Spheroids

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Synthetic peptide nanostructures, formed within cancer cells in response to glutathione, lead to mitochondrial dysfunction and cell death. The nanostructures significantly damage mitochondrial networks, impair cellular respiration, and induce cell death in both 2D cultures and 3D tumor spheroids.

Contribution of caspase-8 to apoptosis of axotomized rat retinal ganglion cells in vivo

open access: yesNeurobiology of Disease, 2003
We have investigated the role of caspase-8 and its mode of activation during apoptosis of adult rat retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) in vivo. Retinal pro-caspase-8 expression was almost completely restricted to RGCs.

Targeting miRNA‐1a and miRNA‐15b: A Novel Combinatorial Strategy to Drive Adult Cardiac Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The article explores a novel therapeutic strategy for cardiac regeneration by targeting miRNA‐1a and miRNA‐15b. Combinatorial inhibition of miR‐1a and miR‐15b enhances cardiomyocyte proliferation, improves heart function, and reduces fibrosis in myocardial infarction models.
