Gene action controlling cassava brown streak disease resistance and storage root yield in cassava
Euphytica, 2018Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) brown streak disease (CBSD) is currently one of the major constraints to sustained cassava production in Malawi. Its economic impact is mainly manifested in the storage roots where it causes pitting, necrosis and constriction.

Cassava brown streak disease: A review of present knowledge and research needs
International Journal of Pest Management, 2003Cassava (Manihot esculenta) is an important subsistence food crop in Africa where it is affected by two main virus diseases, cassava mosaic disease (CMD) and cassava brown streak disease (CBSD). CMD occurs in all the cassava-growing countries on the continent and it has been much researched.

Cassava brown streak disease (CBSD), an emerging virus disease in Eastern Africa, is caused by viruses that pose serious threats to the crop because of destruction in roots. African cassava varieties are susceptible to either of the two viruses causing the disease, cassava brown streak virus (CBSV) and Ugandan cassava brown streak virus (UCBSV).

Farmers' knowledge of cassava brown streak disease and its management in Malawi
International Journal of Pest Management, 2016ABSTRACTThere is little information on farmers’ knowledge about cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) brown streak disease (CBSD), despite extensive studies on incidences and severities. The objective of this study was to assess farmers’ knowledge of CBSD diagnosis and management.

Predicting the Spread and Management of the Cassava Brown Streak Disease Epidemic
2019Cassava Brown Streak disease (CBSD) is a viral disease of cassava that causes necrosis of the edible root tissue, which reduces both consumable and marketable yield. In 2004, CBSD emerged in Uganda and has since been spreading rapidly through previously unaffected regions of East Africa and into Central Africa.
